00:00Some Sydneysiders might be in for a rough commute today and while it's only three tramlines
00:06that are down, the flow on impact is expected to congest other transport services and roads
00:12as people look for alternative options.
00:14Now the city's three tramlines have been down since 11pm last night and that's set to continue
00:19until midnight tonight and it's all in relation to better pay and better working conditions.
00:25Now the rail, bus and train union representing light rail workers is calling for more sick
00:29days to allow them to do their jobs safely as well as a fair wage increase to keep up
00:34with the cost of living.
00:35But negotiations have failed which has led to this network-wide stoppage.
00:40Now there are replacement services available but this strike is already having an impact
00:44on Sydneysiders.
00:46Let's take a quick listen to what some people had to say.
00:49I just found out this morning after work and to be honest at first I thought I was close
00:55because of Vivid but to be honest now I have to walk like 30 minutes to go home.
01:00This is the first time since I started my new job that this has happened so yeah I'm
01:04just going to have to tell them I'll be running late today.
01:07The strike will also impact people heading to Vivid tonight so commuters are being urged
01:12to avoid travelling during peak times and check bus timetables for replacement services.
