00:02 - Okay, moving on, we got a guy who goes to a new place,
00:07 a new lineup, the whole entire to-do.
00:09 Jorge Polanco, a bounce back candidate for 2024, Joe?
00:13 - I think potentially, yeah.
00:16 I think Jorge Polanco needed a change of scenery.
00:18 And the reason why he's getting that change of scenery
00:20 is the guy we just talked about in the last segment,
00:21 which was Edward Julian, right?
00:23 It's time, there wasn't enough room here anymore.
00:26 The young guys are taking over Minnesota
00:27 and Polanco's had some really good seasons.
00:29 Now he's gonna be bringing those talents to Seattle.
00:31 I think this is a good addition for him,
00:34 for the Seattle Mariners.
00:35 I think Polanco's a player that you look at,
00:37 you say, all right, Polanco can give you more power
00:40 than you realize.
00:41 He's, you know, in 2021 at a 33 home run season.
00:45 Do I think he's that guy necessarily?
00:46 No, but if he stays healthy, can he get to 20?
00:48 I think the answer is yes.
00:50 For his career, he's a 269 hitter.
00:52 Last year, he hit in that 250 range.
00:53 Again, he only played half a season last year.
00:55 So 14 homers, 48 RBI, 250 batting average,
01:00 somewhere in that, you know, 780s OPS.
01:04 Now he's had some OPSs in the 800s before.
01:07 For Polanco, it's also keeping that strikeout rate
01:09 down a little bit.
01:10 It was a little high again last year.
01:11 So Polanco's an interesting player because this is
01:13 another guy that's really about games played.
01:16 Can he continue to stay on the field?
01:19 Can he stay healthy?
01:20 And if he does, he's one of the more surprising pieces
01:22 you might see in 2024.
01:24 Again, you look at the ADP, 246.
01:27 It's basically a free player.
01:29 It's a player that, if you look at the rest of this lineup,
01:32 he is slated right now.
01:34 You love lineup stuff.
01:35 I do too, Matt.
01:36 He is slated right now to hit behind Julio Rodriguez
01:39 in this lineup in the three hole.
01:41 So JP Crawford, Julio Rodriguez, Jorge Polanco.
01:45 That's a great space to be because there's a good chance
01:49 somebody's going to be on in front of this guy.
01:51 If you're looking for some cheap RBI opportunities,
01:53 Jorge Polanco is going to be that guy.
01:55 I think this is going to be, ironically,
01:57 one of the most added players in the first few weeks
01:59 of the season in more shallow leagues
02:01 because people will kind of dismiss him a little bit.
02:03 He's been around a while, but he's still in his prime.
02:05 He's entering his age 30 season.
02:07 And I think at this point, you're
02:09 looking at a guy positioned well in a lineup, new place,
02:12 new situation, new opportunity on a really good team.
02:16 I think that basically you're looking
02:18 at Seattle being, at some point in this season,
02:21 one big bat away from really becoming a major contender.
02:26 And I think that's all that they need.
02:27 But in the meantime, that three spot's
02:29 going to be occupied by Jorge Polanco.
02:31 To me, this makes him a really good investment
02:33 as a bounce back candidate because you've
02:35 seen the high spots.
02:36 You've seen the floor.
02:37 Now you just need to see the games played,
02:40 get back up to that 140 range, 150 even.
02:43 And if he can, that's awesome.
02:44 You get 140 games out of Polanco,
02:46 you're going to get some serious stats, especially
02:48 in season-long roto leagues.
02:50 I think the RBI potential, the run potential,
02:52 all going to be there for Polanco.
02:53 So to me, he's a really interesting bounce back
02:56 in 2024.
