00:00 It's the last day of February and March is the month of fire prevention.
00:04 Because of that, the Bureau of Fire Protection is preparing
00:07 to welcome other government agencies and local governments this month.
00:13 Let's take a look at their preparations.
00:16 The month of March is considered the month of fire prevention.
00:27 During this time, the Bureau of Fire Protection of BFP
00:31 gives the importance of prevention and caution against fire.
00:35 Every year, BFP conducts various activities
00:39 such as fire safety drills, lectures, and exhibitions
00:42 that aim to provide the communities with sufficient information
00:46 to avoid and be prepared for any fire incident.
00:50 But despite the warnings, the number of fire cases in the country still increased.
00:56 According to BFP, the number of fire-related cases
01:00 increased to 21.1% or almost 16,000 cases in 2023.
01:05 This is higher than 3,000 cases in 2022.
01:10 In addition, Fire Chief Superintendent Wilberto A. Cuantio
01:15 has again urged the public to help, especially since March is coming.
01:20 You are not alone in the fire.
01:23 I mean, fire service and fire prevention is everybody's business.
01:28 We should all help each other to stop and prevent
01:34 any distractive fire that may occur in our country.
01:37 The duty of firefighters is not a joke.
01:40 Whenever they face a fire, it is a matter of life and death.
01:46 Even in danger, there are still many volunteer groups
01:49 that help BFP and they are very grateful.
01:53 Helping us, the Bureau of Fire, the government,
01:56 in promoting not only fire safety, but as well as campaigning.
02:01 During fire operation, we are their allies.
02:03 That's why we call them fire volunteers.
02:06 They are already our comrades, our brothers, and our auxiliaries.
02:09 In the event of a firefighter brigade
02:12 that was led by BFP and other government officials,
02:15 some officials warmly welcomed all the volunteers
02:20 who were happy to help the community.
02:22 This is not a waste of money, not a waste of benefits.
02:30 This is pure heart, time, dedication, and sacrifice.
02:36 You can see that this is a fight against all the fires in Metro Manila.
02:42 They are willing to sacrifice their lives to help our fellowmen.
02:46 Volunteerism is nationalism.
02:48 We are all together here.
02:51 In the field of fire volunteers,
02:54 there are usually many men joining,
02:57 but now there are also more women.
02:59 I said, there is no such thing as a woman who is willing to serve.
03:05 Volunteers are open to all.
03:09 But all the memories, sacrifice, and service of BFP,
03:14 fire volunteers, and other people and agencies
03:17 are not a waste if we, the families, remain ignorant.
03:22 For this reason, BFP invites everyone to attend the kickoff ceremony
03:28 as a sign of the start of Fire Prevention Month.
03:31 This coming Fire Prevention Month, that will be March,
03:37 the kickoff ceremony will be on March 1 at the Quirino Grandstand.
03:41 It will be a showcase of all the assets and capabilities of the fire service,
03:46 not only the Bureau of Fire Protection,
03:47 but that includes also our auxiliaries,
03:50 our partner agencies who will be joining us in the celebration.
03:53 So I am inviting everyone to witness the kickoff ceremony
03:57 this coming March 1 at Quirino Grandstand.
