Wales headlines 27 February: Welsh leg of covid inquiry starts

The Welsh leg of the covid inquiry has begun in Cardiff, which will look into decisions made during the pandemic here in Wales. The chair Barronness Hallett acknowledged there was a call for a Wales specific inquiry in her opening statement, but said the inquiry would do its best to fully and fairly investigate what happened in Wales.

Charlotte Church has denied being anti-Semitic after leading a choir in a pro-Palestinian song at a concert. She performed a rendition of From the River to the Sea, which some say is anti-Israeli, but other have said it is a Palestinian freedom song. She said chants were calling on coexstinence between Israel and Palestine.

Rhian Wilkinson has been named as the new manager for the Wales women’s national team, replacing Gemma Grainger’s who quit to manage Norway. The 41 year old who has a Welsh mother and lived here for 18 months as a child, made 183 caps for her native Canada winning 2 Olympic bronze medals.
