00:03 - In a marquee matchup up in Northern California
00:06 between the Golden State Warriors and the Denver Nuggets.
00:09 The Nugs, the reigning NBA champs.
00:11 The Dubs playing really good basketball
00:13 on either side of the All-Star break.
00:15 Both Denver and Golden State entered last night's game
00:19 against one another in San Francisco,
00:21 winners of both of their two games
00:23 following the All-Star break.
00:25 But the Dubs did not make that three in a row,
00:28 Denver did.
00:29 And the Nuggets were booked as an underdog,
00:31 which stood out to me on the road in San Francisco
00:34 against the Warriors as Denver wins outright,
00:37 119-103 as a two point dog against Golden State.
00:42 - Yeah, it was a big time win there for the Denver Nuggets
00:45 'cause we're still have to keep in mind,
00:46 we do expect them to be one of the favorites
00:48 here in the Western Conference
00:49 to win the Western Conference,
00:51 but also you know how to make that path easier
00:53 in the Western Conferences?
00:54 Yeah, get the top number one overall seed
00:56 and see if you can track down either OKC
00:58 and or the Minnesota Timberwolves.
01:00 That's a great win here because we saw that upstart
01:02 from the Golden State Warriors,
01:03 that sprint in the second half of the season.
01:05 Team is finally healthy and maybe working Clay Thompson
01:08 in off of the bench.
01:09 But if you're not gonna get great performances
01:11 at a guys like Steph Curry,
01:13 you're not gonna win basketball games.
01:14 And a one for 10 from the three point line
01:16 isn't enough to get it done.
01:18 This was a really competitive game
01:19 right up to the fourth quarter.
01:20 We had a 28 to 16 fourth quarter here
01:23 for the Denver Nuggets
01:24 to finally put away the Golden State Warriors.
01:25 But this is what we expect here,
01:27 the steady hand of the Denver Nuggets,
01:28 but the Golden State Warriors
01:29 are a little bit of a wild card here
01:31 playing better basketball.
01:32 But again, you need your stars to play well.
01:34 Denver Nuggets, their stars play extremely well.
01:37 You didn't get that reciprocal here,
01:38 reciprocation I should say,
01:39 from the Golden State Warriors.
01:42 - And that main star for Denver
01:44 continues to add up triple doubles,
01:46 continues to strengthen his price
01:49 to win the NBA MVP award for the third time
01:52 in the last four NBA seasons.
01:53 Of course, that is Nikola Jokic.
01:56 32 points, 16 boards, 16 dimes.
02:00 The Denver Nuggets have played three games
02:02 after the all-star break.
02:03 Nikola Jokic has recorded a triple double
02:06 in all three of those games for the Nuggets.
02:08 The Nuggets now have won all three of their games
02:11 after the all-star break as well.
02:13 Again, 32, 16, and 16 last night to lead Denver.
02:18 Just the ninth game of the year
02:21 for the Nuggets as an underdog.
02:22 They weren't great as a dog entering last night.
02:25 Three and five against the spread.
02:27 Two of those three covers, an outright victory.
02:29 Now make that a three and six straight up record
02:32 as an underdog, four and five against the number.
02:36 Golden State meanwhile, entered last night
02:38 victorious in eight of its previous nine games.
02:41 Covering it all, eight under in seven of the eight wins.
02:45 Total stays under once again, 232 and a half.
02:49 But Steph, as you alluded to Donnie,
02:51 just one of 10 from deep last night.
02:53 Clay Thompson in his new role off the bench.
02:55 Five triples to lead Golden State with 23 points.
02:58 Just not enough against Denver a night ago.
03:01 - No, it certainly wasn't good enough there.
03:03 And you got to have all cylinders firing
03:05 going up against the Denver Nuggets.
03:06 'Cause if you do just take a look at that starting lineup,
03:08 Jokic gave you the 32 with the incredible,
03:10 tremendous triple double with 16 points and 16 rebounds.
03:14 Again, but Jamal Murray also played 36 minutes on the road.
03:17 Nine of 16 from the floor, which included three of five
03:19 from three point range and six for six
03:21 from the charity stripe to chip in with 27 points.
03:24 We know the Denver Nuggets are good.
03:25 It'll be interesting to see what we get of the Warriors.
03:28 'Cause the one thing we do know is,
03:29 the Warriors have to stay healthy and rested down the stretch
03:32 to do any damage if they want to in the playoffs.
03:34 It'll be interesting to see how they get there
03:36 and how healthy they are.
03:37 But the one thing we do know,
03:38 when it's all finished, said and done,
03:40 the Nuggets are probably going to have a say
03:42 in who's going to win that Western Conference,
03:43 no doubt about it.
