00:02 Let's go back and take a look at Kevin Gossman's number.
00:05 237 strikeouts last year.
00:08 Look at the number you're getting though.
00:10 Plus 750 for Kevin Gossman for this.
00:13 Now, all I'm saying is it takes, as Matt was saying,
00:17 one cold day in April or one start where all of a sudden
00:20 something just doesn't feel right
00:22 and all of a sudden it's open season.
00:25 So why not make an early wager right now
00:28 on Kevin Gossman at this number
00:29 because we all know that number is going to change
00:31 dramatically if something happens to Spencer Strider,
00:33 even in spring, which is sometimes we see guys,
00:36 oh, they go through dead arm, they go through fatigue,
00:38 all of a sudden things change.
00:39 All of a sudden these numbers get adjusted.
00:41 Now, Kevin Gossman is a guy that, again,
00:43 I just don't think gets enough credit.
00:45 It's been a slow burn for him.
00:47 Once upon a time, Kevin Gossman was one of the top
00:49 pitching prospects in baseball with the Orioles
00:52 and it didn't work.
00:53 They could not get it right.
00:54 They kept bouncing in between the bullpen,
00:56 between the rotation, between the minor leagues,
00:58 between the major leagues.
00:59 And eventually he had to move on and the Giants,
01:02 God bless the Giants, they got him right.
01:04 It's gone to Toronto.
01:06 He's been tremendous in Toronto.
01:07 He's the reason why Toronto has a real shot to challenge
01:09 for this American League East.
01:11 I love this and I'm looking at him right now, again,
01:13 the 23rd player going off the board
01:15 over on Fantasy Pro's Consensus ADP.
01:17 He is the sixth pitcher going off the board.
01:20 I gotta tell you, Matt, I feel pretty good
01:22 about Kevin Gossman being the number two pitcher
01:24 going off the board.
01:25 That's how confident I am in him.
01:26 Plus 750, to me, this is a much more interesting wager,
01:30 not to mention in salary cap drafts,
01:33 people are gonna go crazy for Spencer Strider, right?
01:35 Because he's that number one pitcher on the board.
01:37 Why not wait a little bit, save a couple bucks,
01:40 put them in your pocket and take Kevin Gossman instead.
01:43 Your thoughts.
01:44 - I like Gossman a lot.
01:46 I definitely can get on the bandwagon
01:48 if we're throwing out the chalk.
01:50 If we throw out the chalk of Strider,
01:52 then there is a conversation to be made for Gossman.
01:54 But again, it's just, I caution you.
01:56 How come Hunter Green isn't in this conversation?
01:59 Like you could throw anyone in there essentially,
02:02 but when we're trying to find that angle,
02:05 that little crevice where we can make
02:07 that good positive money, Joe is right again.
02:10 I feel like I'm gonna be saying that 'cause I often do.
02:13 'Cause one little mistake, one little something, something,
02:16 and if you remove Strider from the board,
02:18 then you go to the usual suspects.
02:20 People don't realize what Gossman,
02:22 especially his strikeout to walk ratio,
02:24 that's when it really started to show itself.
02:26 It wasn't last season, it was the season before
02:28 where the K to walk really started to stand out.
02:32 I mean, it was extraordinary.
02:33 It wasn't like 30 to two.
02:35 It was ridiculous.
02:36 We were talking about it.
