Tyson said he wasn't being a good enough leader
Transcript
00:00 >> Can you expand a little bit, you said you had a divided locker room early on.
00:03 What's the difference now and from then?
00:05 >> Well, I remember exactly we had like a midseason,
00:10 probably right when Pac 12 started we had a meeting.
00:15 And we asked ourselves, are we trying to be mediocre?
00:19 We're trying to be a great team.
00:21 So and then we got all the issues, I'm not gonna go into depth with all the issues.
00:26 I had to become a better leader, you know what I'm saying?
00:28 Just me personally, but we just went into depth and from that meeting on,
00:32 we started to understand that we were truth tellers.
00:36 We told everybody the truth and I didn't like hearing the truth, but guess what?
00:39 It was my reality and I had to face it.
00:41 And then from there, we just kept expanding, expanding, expanding.
00:44 >> And how was that different from earlier in the season?
00:47 >> From my perspective, I wasn't a good leader.
00:51 I wasn't a great leader.
00:52 I wasn't trying to build relationships with my players, with my teammates.
00:58 I just felt like I was selfish individually, and I just made a promise to them that
01:03 I'll try to be better and try to be more team oriented.
01:06 And that's what it led to tonight.
01:09 >> And to piggyback on that, he wasn't as bad as the leader as he's trying to make
01:12 it seem.
01:13 >> [LAUGH] >> It's a team game,
01:14 it was on all of us to really come together.
01:16 And I feel like we're doing that, really building a Cal brotherhood right now.
01:21 And hopefully we could go onto the road and sweep the mountain schools.
01:25 That's the goal.
