00:00 This space has come a long way.
00:05 In its original form, it was a really dingy, dated bathroom that looked like it had seen
00:14 better times.
00:16 And definitely this is a before that has become an amazing part.
00:36 A lot of planning needs to go into a bathroom space.
00:39 There's a lot of trades involved.
00:41 You know, we've got the electrician, the plumber.
00:45 And so that means you really need to know where everything's going before anybody can
00:48 even begin.
00:49 In this bathroom, even though it looks like we've got a fair amount of space, even I strongly
00:55 fit all of the everyday functionality into the space.
01:02 The entry to each room has the amazing arched doors from Hardware Concepts.
01:08 You can see we've painted them in this rich, warm color to really suit the color scheme.
01:16 This bathroom is smaller in scale, but it feels larger because I've wrapped the entire
01:22 space in a continuous warm tone.
01:30 I like to always stop and think, well, what is the visual when I'm walking into a space?
01:35 And in this particular room, we're going to be looking straight in on a beautiful concrete
01:40 bathtub from Highgrove Bathrooms.
01:45 The creek bathtub from Highgrove Bathrooms is poured from solid concrete.
01:51 And that means that no two baths are ever the same.
01:55 I love the varying texture that you get because of the concrete that the bath is made of.
02:01 I also really like the way the coolness of the concrete breaks up all of the other warmth
02:08 that I've put across the space.
02:12 It was just those choices again where you walk into most bathroom stores and everything's
02:17 white.
02:19 And in this particular space, that would have really stood out and went against the whole
02:23 aesthetic.
02:28 When I shared my idea for these terracotta breeze box, everybody responded really positive.
02:33 And that's because they're so unique.
02:35 So yeah, this is where they will go as a shower screen.
02:40 But the end result is going to be almost like this amazing kind of Turkish or Moroccan kind
02:45 of bath.
02:46 It will be beautiful.
02:50 On this side, we've got a wall hung vanity from Highgrove Bathrooms.
02:54 And I like to look for little moments that I can introduce other interesting textures
03:00 like the beautiful travertine mosaic here that will run up as a bit of a splashback
03:05 behind the vanity.
03:08 And I really love doing that as a little statement feature.
03:12 These travertine fluted mosaics definitely aren't the cheapest tile around, but if you
03:18 use them in small doses like this, they can actually have more of an effect.
03:24 The lighter timber tones really bring another element to the space.
03:28 And I love this kind of ribbed fluted look that runs along the front of the vanity as
03:35 well.
03:37 And the curved edges not only look good, but in a smaller space like this, it really maximizes
03:42 the space because you're not trying to get around those sharp edges.
03:49 And in the bathroom, I've used another of the nude cove bases.
03:53 The beautiful mill basin has this lovely organic feeling.
03:58 And in this lighter colorway, it has a real earthy feel.
04:05 So this design was actually created in reality as a pottery creation.
04:11 I can literally put all the bumps and dims in it, and I can see the texture that was
04:16 created on that pottery wheel in the first place.
04:23 In recent years in tapware, there's been a real trend towards warmer tones.
04:27 We've seen things like brushed brass coming through, but I wanted to take it to the next
04:32 level and I landed on the amazing Parisi matte bronze finish.
04:38 So when completing the vanity area, we could use a range of Parisi products all in the
04:43 same consistent colorway, like Mixa Tap and the Push Plug.
04:53 It's all those practical elements you need in a bathroom, like being able to dry towels.
04:58 And the towel rails from Parisi in the matte bronze finish just look so sleek and streamlined
05:04 in this space.
05:08 We've used some really nice lighting elements from Beacon Lighting.
05:12 I've always been attracted to the Tanimi wall light range from Beacon because they have
05:17 this real pottery look.
05:19 They kind of have a speckled glaze finish, which is just gorgeous.
05:23 They are actually external wall lights, but that means that they're really serviceable
05:28 in a wet area as well.
05:30 You might also notice that we've hung them in a little duo placement, and that's a really
05:36 on-trend look that's easy to achieve.
05:41 When we stand in a renovation space like this, obviously there's no walls yet, so there's
05:45 plenty of natural light coming in.
05:48 But once this is shaded up, this is actually a room with no external window.
05:52 So I had to work out a way to bring in some natural light and some ventilation, which
05:57 is essential in a bathroom.
05:59 And of course, I thought a skylight would be the perfect solution.
06:05 But as always at Hipwell House, we just couldn't have anything that was standard.
06:10 So instead, I've gone for a beautiful custom-made circular skylight.
06:16 The effect is really unique.
06:22 I've actually made the call here to take the tiles to only 2,400 high, so there's a little
06:28 breather of space between the tile height and the actual ceiling.
06:37 In this bathroom space, I've wrapped the entire ceiling in the beautiful Garwood Limewash
06:43 paints.
06:44 Now, the Limewash paints are actually perfect in a wet area like a bathroom.
06:50 Because they're all natural products, they won't peel and blister like traditional paints.
06:55 I really love the effect the Limewash paints have had by placing them on the ceiling in
07:01 this space.
07:02 It's totally transformed what would otherwise become a very plain, boring surface.
07:09 This bathroom mixes lots of elements in terms of texture and patterns.
07:16 But really, it all ties together because of that earthy color palette.
