00:10 Sunday February 18th saw the 77th British Academy Film Awards, hosted by adaptable looking
00:16 David Tennant, who was only to be outshone by cute companion, Bart Gruffalo no less.
00:21 The 2024 award show was dominated by one movie epic in particular. Let's take a quick look
00:26 at some of the winners. It was Christopher Nolan's biographical thriller Oppenheimer,
00:31 which blew away critics as it took home a total of seven awards. These included the awards for
00:36 best film and best director. Cillian Murphy, who played Robert J Oppenheimer, took the award for
00:42 best leading actor, while Robert Downey Jr took the trophy for best supporting actor.
00:46 I want to thank my fellow nominees and my Oppen homies.
00:52 The second biggest winner of the night was Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things. The stylish
00:56 offbeat comedy took a total of five awards, including for best production design and
01:01 best costume design. While some have argued Killers of the Flower Moon actress Lily Gladstone
01:06 had been snubbed in not appearing as a nominee for best leading actress, it was eventually
01:11 Emma Stone who took home this prestigious award. Thank you England for accepting me.
01:19 Jonathan Glazer's Holocaust drama The Zone of Interest won three awards,
01:23 including for outstanding British film and best film not in the English language.
01:28 These wins have left critics reeling at whether it could be a big contender come the Oscars.
01:33 Now it's time to take a look at some of the highlights from the big night.
01:37 Back to the future legend, Michael J Fox has been praised for making a surprise appearance
01:44 at the show where he presented the award for best film. The retired actor who is currently
01:49 living with Parkinson's disease received a standing ovation with host David Tennant
01:54 describing his as a quote "true legend of cinema". Throughout the show viewers were graced with a
02:00 decadent performance from Sophie Ellis Baxter with her hit that has sent social media viewers
02:05 into a spin since its appearance on soundtrack Saltburn and a little unexpected Wonka rendition
02:10 from no other than Hugh Grant. Now it's time to take a look at some of the best dressed.
02:26 Margot Robbie was again pretty in pink, whilst this custom look by Giorgio Armani Prevé was
02:31 not in itself an iteration of a Barbie doll as some of her previous looks have been recently,
02:36 it still had an essence of Barbieification. Styled in an army green suit was Sari Kyogun
02:41 who stunned in Burberry. His co-star Rosamund Pike looked glam in a duck egg blue Dior number.
02:47 Devine Joy Randolph who won best supporting actress for her role in The Holdovers
02:51 graced the carpet in a black and gold gown which she paired with a new set of blonde locks.
02:57 I got gloves on. Oh God. Is this it? Oh, yep it is.
