Paddle out for cancer day at Black Head Beach
Transcript
00:00 Hi, I'm Kyra. We're doing a paddle out today at Blackhead. It's for Surf February.
00:04 We've been surfing and swimming every day this month to raise money for the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse Institution.
00:09 So today we're getting a big group of people together, raise additional funds and we're paddling out.
00:14 It's a beautiful day here today at Blackhead and we're here to paddle out to remember those who've lost to cancer and those who are still living with it.
00:21 There's a bit of weed, but I'm sure we'll get through it.
00:25 Hi, I'm Ella and I'm really excited about today. Behind me I've got the whole Blackhead Surf Support Crew.
00:30 Hi, I'm Indah and I'm super excited for today's Surf February paddle out to cancer.
00:38 This is the poster that I have designed and I decided to pick purple for the main colour.
00:45 We're here to celebrate my great-great-grandpa, Lotto.
00:51 Looking heaps forward to today.
00:54 It's going to be a blast.
00:56 We're going to form a circle in the water and we're bringing flowers for people who have lost a loved one or someone who's currently fighting or has beaten cancer.
01:08 Just to honour those people.
01:10 So yeah, if you can't paddle out you can give a flower to one of the paddlers.
01:14 We're going to put them all in the middle of the circle, splash them all into the middle and just make a bit of a splash for these people.

01:51 Thanks everyone so much for coming, your spectators, the people who aren't paddling that have handed me their flowers.
01:57 Okay, so if you can't make it down to support us today, you're welcome to go to the Surf February website and choose the Diamond Surf Chicks team.
02:05 And then you can donate to our page online and all of that money is going to go to the Chris O'Brien Life House like the money we raise here today.
