00:00 And I think we talked about it yesterday, but I like the fact that we got to play
00:04 St. Thomas in Virginia back to back.
00:06 And Jayla pitched the last three and two thirds, I think, last night.
00:10 Comes out and gets a start.
00:12 And I don't care who you're pitching against today in Division I softball,
00:16 when you can throw a shutout, it's a great feat.
00:19 So kudos to her because I'm sure they went back, talked about what they threw to her.
00:24 Or she threw them yesterday, and they were gonna make adjustments.
00:28 And then Lance and Jayla had to make adjustments today.
00:31 And still, she was terrific.
00:34 So kudos to her.
00:35 And I really like the fact that we got a run rule into the game early.
00:40 And I think when you're the home team, might as well make that your goal.
00:44 Because it's the rule in softball is, if you're up by eight after five,
00:48 the game ends.
00:49 And the other team can't do anything about it.
00:51 >> Yeah, and obviously it's senior day.
00:52 Just talk about what KJ and Lauren have meant to this team.
00:55 >> They're just, KJ has been with us for four years.
00:57 Lauren transferred in from Michigan, so she's had two years with us.
01:00 But I was trying to think of two words to describe both of them in the pregame
01:03 meeting, and it was sunshine and Red Bull.
01:07 Because KJ is the energy giver, and Lauren is complete joy and
01:11 sunshine every single day.
01:13 Just two great personalities that bring a lot to the team.
01:17 Great young ladies.
01:18 They're both gonna have degrees from Alabama and
01:21 do very big things later on in life.
01:25 Just can't say enough good things about both those two young ladies and
01:28 their families.
01:29 Their families have been terrific while they've been in Alabama.
01:32 >> Can you talk a little about the play to purchase today?
01:34 Not a ton of hits, but a lot of walks, getting on base.
01:37 >> Yeah.
01:38 >> Timely hits though today.
01:39 >> No, second game was just not good enough.
01:41 We did the same thing over and over and over.
01:44 Way too many pop ups and strikeouts in the second game.
01:47 And credit their pitcher, she did a great job.
01:50 But we just gotta make more adjustments.
01:52 They only had to throw one ball and it was a sacrifice by Lauren Johnson.
01:56 So we have to make people make plays.
01:59 So that's a goal for tomorrow and in the tournament on a good note.
02:04 Put a bunch more runs up and whoever gets to start, give us a chance to win.
02:09 >> Yeah, then obviously Beery came in for relief today and
02:12 she kind of shut it down.
02:12 Just talk about that performance from her.
02:14 >> She was great.
02:15 I love the last inning,
02:17 because the last two times she pitched a little traffic in the seventh inning.
02:22 And today it was awesome.
02:24 So kudos to her.
02:25 She was ready to go.
02:26 Briskey gave us a great start.
02:27 I thought the defense and the pitching was awesome all day long.
