Instant Analysis: No. 19 Alabama Baseball 4, Manhattan College 0
Transcript
00:00 For BamaCentral.com, I'm Will Miller here alongside Kim Rankin at Sewell Thomas
00:05 Stadium in the immediate aftermath of the opening game of the Rob Vaughn era
00:08 for Alabama baseball. Very productive shutout, 4-0 win against the
00:12 Manhattan Jaspers, a two-hit shutout by the pitching staff with 15 strikeouts,
00:16 lots to like out of the offense, particularly the new look outfield. Kim,
00:20 what were some of your takeaways with the bats? Yeah, I mean I think obviously
00:23 center fielder TJ McCants was the star of the night. He had two hits and accounted for two
00:27 rounds of Alabama sport and then on top of that you had people like Ian Trutz,
00:31 Will Hodo, and Evan Sleight all have runs batted in as well. And that was a
00:35 position group that had a lot of question marks, a lot of experienced guys
00:38 going on to the professional ranks. They showed out on their first night. What's
00:42 not to love if you're an Alabama fan from that particular group? The pitching
00:45 staff was elite. Ben Hess on a pitch count, four innings, nine strikeouts. He
00:51 did get the win even though he didn't go five. Hagan Banks and Braylon Myers
00:54 followed, 15 total strikeouts, two hits. Rob Vaughn has said it on a number of
00:59 occasions, it's gonna be a lot of strikeouts, it's gonna be a lot of home
01:02 runs. No home runs hit tonight. Howard didn't favor either side. Manhattan only
01:06 had two base runners at once in one inning of the game. But again, a really
01:11 really good night at the office for mid-February. Yeah, I don't think you could ask for much more to start out this season.
01:17 There's a lot of time left to get those home runs going for sure.
01:19 For BamaSpecial.com, I'm Will Muller.
