Residents of Kingswood say "people wanted change" after Labour's by-election victory in the constituency overnight. The Labour Party overturned a Conservative majority of more than 11,000 and took the seat from the Tories after 14 years. Damien Egan received 11,176 votes and became one of two by-election winners for Labour, as Gen Kitchen also secured victory in Wellingborough. Report by Brooksl. 00:04 I think people really want a feeling of change and that felt like an opportunity for people to say that.
00:10 I didn't vote for Labour myself personally and I'm shocked.
00:14 They sent so many leaflets through our doors.

00:42 I mean, these are all things that really matter to Kingswood especially.
00:47 I mean, we need to do something about Kingswood and I'm sure Damien's the chap for it.
00:52 I just hope that Damien can ask enough questions and get this place up and running like it was.

01:12 Kingswood is a really small mentality town where we want to get things done.
01:16 We really care about our environment and our community.
01:19 We want roads and transport and rubbish and all the things that matter to our community.
01:22 I think we've just seen that Conservatives can't deliver on those things so hopefully Labour will be able to do better.
