00:00 From 44th Street in Camelback, this is the Arizona Daily Mix.
00:05 And it all starts right now.
00:08 Yes, so there we go, there we go.
00:14 There we go.
00:15 That's right, we got it all.
00:16 Hey, good morning and welcome to the Arizona Daily Mix.
00:18 I am Brad Perry.
00:19 And I'm Lexi Romano.
00:20 Today, if you've ever had the urge to take a road trip,
00:23 Ooh.
00:24 I'll tell you right now, you're gonna be excited.
00:27 And maybe you haven't crossed that hurdle yet, but I'm gonna get you there.
00:29 I'm gonna get you there.
00:30 Because we are gonna be talking to these two gentlemen
00:33 who are gonna make it happen for you.
00:35 And it's all in a Boho camper van.
00:37 Ooh.
00:38 We're gonna talk about taking a road trip and how easy it is.
00:40 And comfortable.
00:41 Look at how cute that is inside.
00:42 Yeah, that's very comfortable.
00:43 Everybody can enjoy that.
00:44 Ooh, I like that pink suede, baby.
00:47 Awesome.
00:48 And if you're wondering what fashion trends to look out for for this year,
00:52 well, Affy Like Taffy is here to tell you everything you need to know.
00:55 And I love when Affy comes in,
00:57 because truly, she brings in the style.
01:00 Like, I never know what's in until I talk to Affy, and then I know.
01:04 I'm like, "Okay, good."
01:05 And she has it.
01:06 I'm prepped now. I'm good.
01:07 Awesome.
01:08 All right, hey, if you're scrambling for a Valentine's Day gift for that special someone,
01:11 well, Todd Carson Antique is here to show us how to make that last-minute gift a bit unique.
01:18 Okay, I love this.
01:19 This is such a great idea.
01:21 Not maybe something you would initially think of, but very smart.
01:24 Right.
01:25 I love it.
01:26 We buy people shiny new things, but why not do some antiques that will be kind of history?
01:31 Yeah, it's giving the thing a second life.
01:34 I don't know, I just think that's beautiful.
01:35 That's really cool, especially if it's something kind of sentimental.
01:38 And you might actually be surprised, because maybe your partner is into antiques,
01:42 you didn't realize it until you gave them one.
01:44 There you go.
01:45 And then they go antique shopping.
01:46 There you go.
01:47 I love it.
01:48 Okay, so this has been pretty much a two-day topic going on.
01:51 It is.
01:52 Everybody is talking about this.
01:53 And this is, of course, the WM Phoenix Open this past weekend was a mess.
01:58 Yeah.
01:59 It was a mess.
02:00 People are blaming it on the rain, you know, because they had to close down parking lots,
02:04 very limited parking, getting people in.
02:06 They had to close off parts of the course.
02:07 But other people are saying the drinking was a big problem there.
02:11 You know what, Brett?
02:12 I think it was both, because when we went out to do the live show there,
02:14 we did have to park in a different area.
02:16 We weren't able to park in the lot that we were normally planning to park in.
02:20 So that was a mess.
02:22 But, yeah, I mean, our camera gal, Maddie, she was there on Saturday.
02:27 I didn't ask her if I could tell the story, but I'm going to tell it anyways.
02:29 She said that they were in line, and people were already drinking in line,
02:33 so much so that people were physically ill in line just waiting to get in.
02:38 It's terrible.
02:39 That's too much.
02:40 And I will say, the thing is that the Open has changed, because I'll be honest,
02:44 my day, hey day, I would go out there, have drinks, we have a good time and stuff.
02:47 But it wasn't closed off now, and I think that's the problem they have,
02:50 is that they've closed off so many of the holes to private cabanas,
02:55 spending more money, that the amateur person is going to get drunk beforehand,
02:59 because they can't afford to go in there, and then there they are,
03:01 and trying to sneak in and stuff.
03:03 And I think that's one thing.
03:04 So players, the PGA, spectators, have said it's time to change.
03:09 It's time to go and time to change.
03:11 And I think it is--I hate to say it, I know it's a great fundraiser.
03:14 Let's make sure we understand that.
03:16 They raise a lot of money for charity, but maybe it's time to take away
03:18 some of the cabanas, take care of some of the areas,
03:21 so that actually amateur people can--amateurs, I say--
03:25 some of the spectators can come and sit in those areas
03:29 that they've closed off and enjoy the--
03:31 I agree, I agree.
03:32 No one's trying to rain on anyone's parade, even though it literally was raining that day.
03:36 I will tell the other secret to people is, listen,
03:38 if there are a million people at that front gate,
03:41 there are three other gates that you can go to that you can bypass.
03:45 Like the Fairmont Princess, everyone said, got an easy.
03:47 There's another one that's on the back, on the far back nine that they have
03:52 that you can go there and come in.
03:55 Is that one closed now? Oh, the far back one closed?
03:57 Stu's telling us it's closed.
03:59 Well, I know Fairmont you can get in, but yeah, some other place.
04:02 It was just messy, it was messy, and I read a story just this morning
04:06 saying that there were more people arrested and ejected than ever before.
04:10 And I'm looking on Instagram at all the drunk people strolling and falling all over the place.
04:13 It is kind of funny, though.
04:15 They're falling in the mud.
04:17 In the mud! People are calling it the open lean, because people are walking and they're leaning.
04:21 It's so funny.
04:23 There it is. Oh my goodness.
04:25 Let's do some trending.
04:27 Brought to you by Gerber Injury Law.
04:29 We thank them very much for sponsoring this part of the Arizona Daily Mix.
04:31 And it is Fat Tuesday!
04:33 Woo-woo!
04:35 For all those that know what Fat Tuesday means,
04:37 it means where you gobble down as much junk as you can before you start Lent tomorrow.
04:41 And Bashes is here to help out with some sweets,
04:45 because not only is it Fat Tuesday, but it's, say it for me,
04:49 I always get this wrong, Pacinski Day?
04:53 Oh, it's Poonchek Day?
04:55 Poonchek, Poonchik, Poonchek.
04:57 There it is.
04:59 But it's also Poonchek Day at Bashes.
05:01 Oh, very cool.
05:03 And that is where the grocery has the donuts here.
05:05 Okay, so let me just talk a little bit about Fat Tuesday, because I didn't know this.
05:09 It is where historically families would use up all of the fat, sugar, eggs, and fruit in the house,
05:13 as these items were forbidden during Lent.
05:15 They'd use all these ingredients to make indulgent, sweet pastries called Poonchek.
05:21 So if you have one, it's a Poonchek.
05:23 If you have multiple, it's...
05:25 You're fat.
05:27 Yes, but also, it's called Poonchki.
05:31 So Poonchek, that's not a word actually, it's Poonchki.
05:35 Oh, Poonchki, okay.
05:37 I know our Polish director, Mike...
05:39 Is probably in there cringing at our fans right now, I'm sorry.
05:41 But don't worry, if you're not going to get the Poonchki, you can always get, of course, the King Cake they have there.
05:48 Oh, is that what that is?
05:49 That's the King Cake, yes.
05:51 And the King Cake, I don't know if you can see the baby on top of there.
05:53 Why is there a baby?
05:54 Well, this is what happens.
05:55 You take the baby and you stick it into the King Cake, and then when you cut into it,
05:58 whoever gets the baby in their piece, they have to host the next Mardi Gras party.
06:04 Oh, that's fun.
06:05 So yeah, so that's where the baby gets stuck in there, and that's a big baby.
06:08 Can you see the baby?
06:10 That's kind of a scary looking baby, guys.
06:12 That's a big baby right there.
06:13 I'm going to actually, I don't want to put my fingers in there.
06:15 We were just saying we were going to put a picture of Arlo on there and have a cuter baby.
06:18 Yeah, but that's right there.
06:20 So there you go.
06:21 Very cool, I love it, yeah.
06:22 So gobble down as much as you can, because then tomorrow starts Lent, and you're supposed to...
06:25 Yep, are you giving something up for Lent?
06:27 You know what, I'm going to give up on not eating, because that's what I've been doing for the last...
06:31 So you're going to start eating?
06:32 Yes.
06:33 We've got to go.
06:34 Coming up, we are getting the scoop on proper tween skin care from a local expert, so stick around, guys.
06:40 While anti-aging products can be a lifesaver for ladies of a certain age,
06:58 they're not necessarily right for our younger counterparts.
07:02 Here to talk about the skin care craze among teens and tweens is Dr. Brooke Jeffy.
07:06 Welcome, Doctor.
07:07 Thank you for having me.
07:08 Thank you for being here.
07:09 This is such an interesting topic.
07:11 So we did kind of talk about an article that we both read that addresses this topic.
07:16 This is stuff that I had no idea about.
07:18 This is crazy.
07:19 So young teens and tweens are getting into anti-aging skin care.
07:23 Tell me a little bit about what's going on.
07:25 Yeah, I think there's a lot of factors that really play into this, right?
07:28 So we all have this fear of aging, which seems to get more pronounced with each new generation.
07:35 We're also all so inundated with seeing ourselves on social media, on camera.
07:40 Kids are doing online school, online extracurricular types of activities, so they're constantly looking at their face.
07:46 And I think that drives it, too.
07:48 There's also this desire to fit in.
07:50 So when we see influencers and social marketing campaigns utilizing those,
07:54 this is in front of our kids' faces all the time, and they just have this desire to use those products that they're seeing.
08:01 So this is coming mainly from them seeing other people, influencers, on, if it's Instagram or TikTok or something like that,
08:08 using these products, and then maybe these kids think, "Oh, I want to look like them, so I'm going to use these same products."
08:14 I think that exactly drives it.
08:16 I have asked numerous teens and tweens in my practice why they are using certain products,
08:21 and it's not because of some benefit that they think they're going to get.
08:24 It's because they tell me that they like how the product looks on their counter and their vanity.
08:29 Oh, wow.
08:30 So it's not even necessarily about the benefit of what it's going to do for you.
08:34 It's just having the product itself.
08:36 Exactly.
08:37 Wow.
08:38 That's so interesting.
08:39 Okay, so talk a little bit about some of the harmful things that these products can do to young teen and tween skin.
08:44 Exactly.
08:45 So these anti-aging products that we tend to use, things like retinol, exfoliating acids, stronger concentrations of vitamin C,
08:52 they are very potentially irritating to our skin.
08:55 Oftentimes, adults even struggle to tolerate some of these products.
08:59 Okay.
09:00 But they're very irritating, can harm our skin barrier, which functions to protect us, to prevent us from our skin drying out,
09:06 to help fight infections, and to help protect our skin from sun damage.
09:10 Wow.
09:11 So when they're using these products with no benefit, right,
09:14 it's all risk, and that's where the issue comes in.
09:17 So I frequently see in my practice kids coming in with rashes, breakouts,
09:21 because they've been using some of these products that just are too harsh for their skin.
09:25 Got it.
09:26 So this is something that at that age they really, really want to stay away from.
09:30 So what is it that you suggest that they use?
09:34 Exactly.
09:35 So we want to keep it more simple with tweens and younger teens.
09:39 So I have three examples here of different regimens.
09:42 As you can see, they're each three products, so cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen,
09:47 sunscreen being, of course, the most important thing to start at a young age.
09:50 Absolutely.
09:51 Also want to look for products that are oil-free, non-comedogenic,
09:55 which means they don't contribute to clogged pores and acne, and ideally fragrance-free.
10:01 So keeping it simple, thinking about the fact that your kid's skin is more--your tween or teen,
10:07 their skin is more like a baby's skin than your skin can be a great guiding principle for you.
10:14 You would never grab a retinol or some kind of anti-aging product and think about putting it on your baby.
10:19 Oh, absolutely.
10:20 Yes.
10:21 So, okay, so talk quickly about each one of these and some of the benefits of these three packages.
10:26 Yeah, so one thing that's a bit overwhelming out there is just how many products there are.
10:30 So I actually created a line for tweens called B-Tween.
10:33 And so right now there's two products, a cleanser and a moisturizer, more to come, great for all skin types.
10:38 Okay?
10:39 You pair it with a sunscreen, it is great for all tweens and teens.
10:42 Love it.
10:43 If your tween or teen has more sensitive skin, maybe they're on the younger spectrum of that age group,
10:48 Vanna Cream, all of their products are fabulous, fragrance-free, great, great options.
10:53 Okay.
10:54 If you have maybe an older teen, they're starting to get a little more oil,
10:57 you could look for products that say they're more for oily skin.
11:00 The Slime by La Roche-Posay, they have multiple products, but they do a great job telling you which products are for oily skin.
11:05 So we have a foaming cleanser, a lighter gel lotion, and a very lightweight sunscreen.
11:10 Okay, I love all of this.
11:11 You've provided something for kind of the sensitive, the oily, if you're going into, you know, those teen years,
11:16 trying to break out a little bit, that's a good one.
11:18 And then something that you have designed that's really good for everybody.
11:20 I love it.
11:21 All right, Dr. Jeffy, tell everybody where they can find you, follow you, and work with you.
11:24 Yeah, so love for you to follow me on my social media, which is @brookjeffymd.
11:29 Okay.
11:30 My practice is in North Scottsdale.
11:32 It's called @brookjeffymd.
11:34 Love it. Nice and easy.
11:35 Yes.
11:36 So www.brookjeffymd.com.
11:39 And then the Between products can be purchased in my office or online at www.meetbetween, B-T-W-N, .com.
11:47 I love it.
11:48 And you were saying earlier that you do some little highlights or tips or stuff on social media.
11:52 I do.
11:53 So that's a good place for people to go to just get ideas and just kind of, you know, follow along.
11:57 And maybe if this is something you just want to go grab at the drugstore, they can follow you and learn all about that.
12:01 Exactly.
12:02 Awesome. All right, doctor, thank you so much for being here.
12:03 This was very informative.
12:05 All right, coming up next, find out how to elevate your road trip when the mix returns.
12:10 [Music]
12:31 Oh, people, you know I got the camping bug three years ago and I haven't turned back.
12:37 No, I haven't.
12:39 And I'm so happy to have Boho Campers here with me, David and Brett, with us because we are telling you how you can go on a road trip in comfort.
12:47 And the thing I've been hearing, guys, when I tell people about going RV and going on the road trip, the first thing they say is that, oh, my lady ain't going to be in no tent.
12:55 She ain't going to do that.
12:56 But you guys have come up with a great way for people to go out and enjoy the road.
12:59 So let's talk before we get into this, very quickly, do some tips for people who are looking to go camping, looking to get on the road out there.
13:07 Well, yeah, if you wanted to go camping in a camper van like ours, you know, it all starts with preparing, knowing where you're going to stay.
13:14 There's lots of great places in Arizona to do that.
13:17 We were just talking about the Rim.
13:19 Next would be, you know, planning for food, right?
13:21 Everybody wants to eat and, you know, and enjoy themselves out.
13:25 They don't have to be running into town.
13:27 So you want to be prepared for some pre-made meals, some snacks to eat while you're on the road, some drinks, obviously.
13:34 So that's very important.
13:35 But I think just planning ahead with location and food and, you know, with ours, it makes it a lot easier because that's all you really got to do.
13:42 Yes, and that's very important right there is to, of course, maybe do some renting before buying, right?
13:48 Yeah, absolutely.
13:49 So that's why we actually started the company as a rental company.
13:52 And that allowed for us to get people out into nature, get people on the road to experience it.
13:57 And actually, we've had a few of those turn into sales where they go and they love it so much.
14:01 We've had, like we said, some engagements, some weddings, some, you know, some anniversaries.
14:07 But the rental side of the company has facilitated all those and actually, you know, kind of put our company on the map to begin with, really.
14:14 All right, ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourself for this, the ultimate road trip vehicle.
14:19 Go ahead, open it up and let's get inside here because this is, oh, come on in, boys.
14:26 This is it right here.
14:28 This is awesome for those that are looking to do those road trips in comfort and in style, which is really neat.
14:35 And as you said, you guys came with the company.
14:37 Boho means?
14:39 It's short for bohemian, which is by definition the unconventional way to live or travel.
14:44 And this, I'm seeing a lot more people doing this.
14:46 I've seen people try to make these online and I've seen them fail to a little bit.
14:50 And that's why you guys are saying, let us do it for you.
14:52 Come out and rent with us.
14:54 But when people take one of these out, everything's here for them, right?
14:57 Yeah, absolutely. So David is saying food.
14:59 We have a refrigerator right here.
15:01 That is not a dishwasher.
15:02 That is actually a shower.
15:03 The curtain goes up to the ceiling and it helps you be able to wash off after those nice hikes.
15:08 Under here is actually.
15:09 Open it up. Don't be afraid.
15:10 A little bidet, a little toilet.
15:12 They're mostly, you know, emergency ones or, you know, maybe a full emergency number two.
15:19 But, you know, so we kind of have it all.
15:21 And then obviously a super comfy bed, a pull up table.
15:24 So you can actually come in here and have your dinners and hang out, play cards and just kind of relax after a long day out.
15:31 It's all here now.
15:32 Listen, I am six, two and a half.
15:34 I'm going to stand up and show you.
15:35 Literally, I'm here, but I'm not going to be hanging out in here.
15:38 You know, I'm going to be, of course, out in the wilderness doing stuff and everything.
15:41 And these are these good for off roading or more staying in the like parks.
15:45 So we've had lots of people. I mean, if you've ever rented a vehicle, you treat it a little bit different than if you were to own it.
15:51 Every vehicle has made it back and we've done almost fifteen hundred rental trips, but they do do great off road.
15:57 Not a rock crawler, but any of those fire roads or those dirt roads you see all over Arizona.
16:02 OK, and I want to do one more thing before we go.
16:03 We're going to go in the back here.
16:04 I want to show people this right here, because this is important that people have to realize this.
16:08 I can fit in this. You can fit in it. And look at this.
16:11 Oh, look at that. I am. Look how comfortable I am.
16:16 All right. That's what we're doing camping.
16:18 But let's go back because we got to talk about how this actually really quick works, because that's important here for people taking these out because they wonder power.
16:26 They wonder about electricity. They wonder about, of course, cooling off and stuff.
16:30 And so you guys have made it very easy for this back here, right?
16:33 Yeah, absolutely. So everything in the cab is all powered by its own battery bank.
16:38 So that's all this over here. Right.
16:40 So that's charged when you're driving down the road by the solar power coming in through the roof or when we have it plugged into a shore power.
16:48 And so you're completely off grid. You have water on this side.
16:51 So customers typically see themselves. They can get away from town for minimum of five days.
16:57 Love it. There it is. All right. I'm very excited, people.
16:59 It is Boho Camping. Information's right there on the screen.
17:03 Go right now on rent and then DM me. I might take some really cool spots to go to.
17:07 Maybe come out and meet you. Maybe come out and hang with you, people.
17:10 But you got to go do it. So thanks, guys. All right. Thank you. All right. Stick around.
17:13 We got more of the mix coming up after this. Let's go camping.
17:27 This is the Arizona Daily Mix.
17:30 All right. Welcome to the second half of the Arizona Daily Mix.
17:41 Still to come, it's Galentine's Day. And what's better than a cocktail with your girls or your guys?
17:48 Well, Kala is helping you learn how to make a tasty drink. I love this. Look at how pretty.
17:54 Tasty. All right. And plus, guys, Valentine's Day is tomorrow.
17:58 And if you haven't found the perfect gift for your girl, Todd Carson Antiques is here to help us with a little something old and historian for you.
18:06 So it's really cool gifts there that you could very much surprise yourself and your partner.
18:12 Yeah, no, that's great. So if you just again tune in with us on the desk are the king cake with the baby that's sticking out.
18:20 And, of course, the punch, say, punchek, punchek, the puncheks, because Fat Tuesday, these are from Bashes.
18:28 Punchkis. Punchkis from Bashes that you can go pick up today and again, put the baby in there.
18:33 That's kind of ugly and scary. The baby in the cake. I love it.
18:36 So nobody puts baby in a cake. No. All right. Hey, let's do. Are we doing training? Are we doing Renaissance?
18:42 Just what do you have time? Just Renaissance. Training. OK, let's go to training.
18:45 We're going to training brought to you by Gerber Injury Law, where we travel the Internet, the social media websites, our own backyard.
18:50 And we think, of course, Gerber Injury Law for sponsor is part of the Arizona Daily Mix.
18:55 And this is talking Super Bowl records. So viewership. You ready for this?
19:00 One hundred and twenty three point four million viewers in the US. Oh, wow.
19:05 Making it the most watched broadcast since the iconic 1969 moon landing and my birth.
19:12 So in 1969. So wait, more so than other like other event. Yeah.
19:19 Other Super Bowls and stuff. Yeah. So the biggest TV watch event.
19:23 So broadcast event. Now, you got to remember, back in 1969, there wasn't a lot of TVs.
19:27 It wasn't much else. They said to watch that. Yeah. So if you were if you had a TV, that's what you were watching.
19:32 Yeah. So that's what they range. Everybody was tuning in. If you had a TV.
19:36 Yeah. One hundred twenty five to one hundred fifty million people. And then. But this is the crazy thing that there are.
19:40 I'll be honest, they're a little worried about with broadcast television. We're not because we're awesome.
19:45 But one hundred twelve million tune in on CBS, while other shows, platforms such as Paramount Plus, Nickelodeon, Univision, sports and digital channels, NFL digital channels.
19:56 So we I wanted to watch Ursher, baby. I wanted to watch the halftime show.
20:00 So I made Josh download the app to watch it. And then we immediately on download.
20:06 That's the way to do it. Yeah. But yeah, but that's still hundred twenty three point four million viewers.
20:11 That's incredible. Yeah, that's that's what I will say.
20:14 That is like point one million more than what we get here each day.
20:19 OK, well, so we're close. We're close. We're getting there.
20:22 So the reason why we have all these wonderful viewers is because we like giving things away.
20:26 That's right. There's an Arena Sons festival is going to going on now.
20:31 And guess what? Huzzah. Oh, yes, that's right. What a great time of year to get outside and go back in time to a magical age.

21:09 Abby like Taffy is here to give us some fresh fashion inspo. Welcome, Abby.
21:14 Thank you so much for having me. Lovely to be back, Lexi.
21:16 Well, we love having you because you always give us the best inspiration for fashion.
21:21 And I mean, we got to start out with what you're wearing right now because you look incredible.
21:25 Thank you so much. I am wearing Farm Rio and I'm actually in one of the colors of the season, which is pale blue.
21:30 Oh, yeah. And it's all about the cutouts.
21:32 You know, I have the like porcelain white with this lovely like floral or I should say like flower.
21:37 Gorgeous. Yes, I love it. They're big. They're bold.
21:40 They make a huge statement. They add to the whole look. Thank you so much.
21:43 And before we were talking about the sleeves, I'm a huge fan of sleeves.
21:46 Of course. And just voluminous sleeves, you know, exaggerated sleeves.
21:49 We have so much of that for 2024. On top of that, we are looking at like really fun power dressing.
21:54 So we have suiting in all areas. We have blazer dresses. We actually have monochromatic suiting.
22:00 I know you're wearing a blazer. Yes, we have graphic black and white.
22:04 And like, you know, lace like porcelain lace is like really trending as well.
22:08 So you just think like brides, but like everyday bride.
22:11 OK, great. And white is always classic. I love that you can wear it after Labor Day now.
22:15 Indeed. I can wear it all year. That's great. That's great.
22:18 And so before we get into our models, because you have a bunch of beautiful models who are going to kind of show
22:22 exactly what our styles are for the year. Tell us a little bit about you and what you do.
22:26 Thank you so much. Well, I am a fashion stylist, so I help people shop.
22:30 I show them how to put outfits together. I am a style and lifestyle content creator.
22:34 I own a closet organization business and a part time model and I fashion coordinate for So Scots I'll magazine.
22:39 Oh, my gosh. Well, you do it all and you do it with style, of course.
22:43 So let's get into our models because we have four and I want to make sure we get through all of them.
22:47 So let's step back just a touch here. So the models can be center stage.
22:50 So let's take a look at our first model. Thank you so much. Yes. Come on in.
22:53 So, yes, first of all, we have Miss Aisha and she is wearing that kind of porcelain white that I told you about.
22:59 And that lovely blazer dress. She's wearing red and red jewelry.
23:03 I love the pearl detailing with the gold. They're like a lovely necklace.
23:07 And it's just very tailored and clean. You know what? Yeah.
23:10 Will you give us a little turn because I want everybody to see the back of this to how tailored this is.
23:15 This is going to flatter anyone who is wearing this. This shape is gorgeous.
23:19 It's so nailing. I mean, you would feel like a million bucks going out in that. That is so gorgeous.
23:23 And she looks amazing. And then that mirror bag and that cold guy, just that clutch.
23:27 Everything is just tied together and she has sparkles literally embedded in that dress.
23:31 So beautiful. Oh, my gosh. Thank you so much.
23:33 Thank you so much, Aisha. Let's bring on our next model.
23:35 Thank you, Lovebug. Oh, this look. I know. Yes. Hello.
23:39 So Miss Kayla, she is literally wearing kind of like monochrome suiting that I told you about.
23:45 The power suiting and I love the blue. Another color, of course, that's trending for this season.
23:50 I love the animated floors. She's wearing that hat with like really flat and it just ties everything together with that lovely pop of pink.
23:57 This is so gorgeous. And OK, I have to ask. This gives me like a 70s vibe.
24:02 Oh, totally. Definitely. Is that back? The 70s are back? Of course, the 70s are back.
24:05 And yes, super high rise denim, super high rise trousers and also very wide leg denim.
24:10 That's what we're looking at. Denim trousers as well.
24:12 Gorgeous. Gorgeous. OK, this whole look is incredible. And the bag ties in with the floral. Just beautiful.
24:18 All right. Thank you so much. Let's bring out our next model here.
24:21 All right. So next up, we have Miss Maisie. Wow.
24:24 And she is wearing that graphic black and white. So we're going to be seeing a lot of black and white this season.
24:29 And I just love this kind of playful Farm Rio T-shirt dress.
24:32 She's wearing the lovely like earrings that's kind of like the chandelier and the flat bag. It's all about the flat bag.
24:38 Oh, OK. Interesting. Yeah. Highlight this bag for us. Like give that give us a little look at this.
24:42 So does it open up like. Yes, it does. It flaps up.
24:45 Look at that. That is so cool. Yes. And the blazer. Yes. And the blazer has actually like, you know, the shoulder pads from the 80s.
24:52 That's really trendy. And the leather. Love the shoulder pads. Yes. And then the red, just like a pop of red.
24:57 So I always recommend to my clients, if you're doing a black and white, make sure you have red because it just gives you that extra elevated look.
25:03 I love that. A pop of something. OK, gorgeous. And our last model. Let's bring her on out.
25:07 This look is incredible. Yes. Oh, my goodness. So, yes. So this is Callie.
25:13 She told me that her name is California. So just remember, Callie, because I'm not used to saying that.
25:17 She's wearing all sequins. I love the red and gray, but like the layered necklaces and sequins is very much going to continue on this whole entire year.
25:25 And this green that makes her red hair really pop. And I actually picked this outfit because of her.
25:30 Specifically for her. It suits her. Oh, my goodness. Yes. And the green bag.
25:34 And then again, just that super high rise denim, super wide leg denim.
25:37 And it's just all tied in with the layered necklaces. And I love the sequins. I love that sequins are back.
25:42 So, again, this feels another nod to the 70s for me, that kind of funky, cool style, but tied together with a little tuck in with a shirt.
25:50 She looks fabulous. All right, ladies, thank you all so much. Every single one of these looks is gorgeous.
25:55 And this is what you're going to see for 2024. All right, Abby, thank you for being here.
26:00 And just want to say, chop Amy Artillier. She provided all the clothing. Amazing.
26:04 And then red and gray with the shoes, red and gray with the earrings. And then lastly, Ford Robert Black provided all these beautiful women.
26:11 Oh, my goodness. Well, you all look gorgeous. Thank you for being here. Love all these styles. Catch me in any one of those.
26:16 All right, guys, stick around. We have more of the mix after this.
26:19 [Music]
26:38 Valentine's Day is almost here. And whether you're celebrating with that special someone or with your best gal,
26:44 Kala Scottsdale has the perfect cocktail to fall in love with. We have bartender Ari here to share some of their top V-Day cocktails.
26:52 Welcome, Ari. Thank you so much for having me. Thank you for being here.
26:55 So I have just been geeking out about these cocktails on our table because they are so beautiful.
27:00 But before we get to those, tell us a little bit about Kala and kind of the atmosphere when people come in, what they can expect.
27:05 Yes. So Kala is on Camelback Road. It is known for its Mediterranean coastal with the desert flair.
27:12 We really try to specialize in craft cocktails, over-the-top food.
27:18 Design. Yeah, absolutely. The way it's presented, it's so beautiful. We were just saying these cocktails,
27:23 it's not just pouring a tasty drink into a glass. You guys really make it an experience, which is great.
27:29 So the decoration that we have on the table is kind of representative of how it is when you walk in.
27:34 But specifically, let's talk about these cocktails that are on the table because I'm like mouthwater.
27:40 They look beautiful. Tell me a little bit about this first one.
27:42 So this one is our Red Velvet Espresso Martini. It has a homemade red velvet syrup.
27:48 It's nice, rich, decadent, a little romantic. If you're having some steak, a good finisher of your meal cocktail.
27:57 Oh, OK. I love that. Perfect for Valentine's Day. What's this beauty right here?
28:02 This is our Santa Margarita Sparkling Rosé with Edible Glitter. That is our welcoming cocktail.
28:08 So when guests come in into the restaurant, they will be welcomed with a glass of sparkling rosé.
28:13 I love that. So you start out with a beautiful cocktail. You don't even have to wait till after the meal.
28:18 And then this last one here. This one is called Love is in the Air and it is our spritz.
28:24 It is a Empress Gin Spritz with grapefruit, a little bit of elderflower, grapefruit juice and it's topped off with rosé.
28:33 It's almost like a spin on an Aperol spritz in a way. Yes.
28:36 Oh, that's perfect. I love that. That's a good starter, too, because it's got that nice crisp flavor.
28:40 So for people who are looking to come in, any one of these cocktails would be fantastic.
28:45 But we're going to make one here today. Right. So this is great. You can go ahead and get started.
28:50 I love seeing you guys make these cocktails because there's so much that goes into them.
28:55 So when you come out to Cala and you get a gorgeous cocktail for Valentine's Day, for Galentine's Day,
28:59 just know there is so much preparation going into it.
29:02 And it comes to your table looking beautiful and looking super vibey for the day.
29:07 So you started out with was that the Empress Gin? Yes, Empress Gin.
29:11 This has a little bit of rose. It's nice and floral, a little light.
29:16 And then this is lemon juice. So I'll be doing an ounce of that.
29:20 OK, so then this cocktail, I'm assuming is going to look great for Valentine's Day as well,
29:24 because I'm assuming it's going to have a lot of this pinkish flavor.
29:27 Yes, it has a nice light tint. It's also a sour, which means it has an egg white top.
29:31 So it has that nice white foam on top. Really nice on the lips.
29:35 As you sip it, it'll kind of degree to a certain point. It's amazing.
29:41 OK, I love. Is it called a flip? Is that what those cocktails are called? Sours.
29:45 Sours. OK, because I thought when they had a when they have the egg white in there, I thought that was called a flip.
29:50 Yes. So with the sour, you do a dry shake, which gives it that really nice foam on top.
29:55 Oh, OK. And so you're finishing off. You're going to give it a good shake there.
29:58 Yes. This will have a. Oh, I almost forgot. One last ingredient.
30:03 One last ingredient. This is our raspberry puree.
30:07 Lots of red in these cocktails, guys. It is Valentine's Day.
30:10 Whether you're going with your gals or you're going with your special someone, we want that vibe.
30:14 We want that theme for Valentine's Day. And this is going to go in a coupe. Yes.
30:21 So tell us about the food at Kala. What can people expect food wise?
30:25 Kala's food is a little bit Mediterranean, has some Italian flair in it.
30:31 We're really known for our pastas. Chef Peter is actually our executive chef.
30:35 He is a current contestant on Chopped on Food Network. Oh, wow.
30:40 OK, cool. So you know you're going to get incredible cocktails because Ari designed the cocktail menu.
30:44 You're also going to get delicious food from a Chopped contestant right there.
30:50 So it's going to go great with these beautiful cocktails for your Valentine's Day.
30:54 And this is going into a coupe. And is that lined with rose petals? Yes. Edible rose petals.
31:00 Look at that color. That is so beautiful. And you're right. It does have a little bit of the foaminess on top.
31:06 So what's going to be the flavor profile on that? This is floral, light, a little airy.
31:14 It's really good with the Empress elderflower, has notes of raspberry and also elderflower liqueur in it.
31:22 That's so beautiful. And topped off with that raspberry. That is so gorgeous.
31:27 All right, guys. So are you still taking reservations for tomorrow night? We currently are.
31:32 Yes, you can make reservations at callascottsdale.com or on Open Table.
31:36 OK, I love that. So like she said, callascottsdale.com.
31:39 And you can also follow them on Instagram at callascottsdale because you want to see all these gorgeous cocktails.
31:45 So you come and know what you're going to get. One thousand percent. Come in, take pictures.
31:49 We have a whole array. And are you doing any kind of a prefix for Valentine's Day?
31:53 Yes, we are doing a three fix course. You'll be started off with the lobster bisque, then followed into a nice steak.
32:00 Then you would be followed off with a passion fruit chocolate mousse. Delicious.
32:04 Would go great with any of these gorgeous cocktails. All right. All right. Thank you for making these for us.
32:07 Thank you so much for having me. All right. Coming up, we're helping you stay healthy during this cold weather spurt here in Arizona.
32:14 The following portion of the Arizona Daily Mix is sponsored on behalf of SmartCheck from Children's Dialynol by A1 Broadcast.
32:20 During the winter months, many parents and caregivers think they find themselves at home with sick children.
32:27 Last week, I talked with pediatrician Dr. Mona Amin to help them find a way to help their kids.
32:33 During the winter months, many parents and caregivers think they find themselves at home with sick children.
32:40 Last week, I talked with pediatrician Dr. Mona Amin to discuss how you can help keep your children healthy this season.
32:47 Good morning, doctor. How are you? Good morning. Well, thank you for having me.
32:54 Well, we know that it is winter months. Bring on the viruses with the flu and different things and children.
33:00 So what are some of the things you're seeing in your practice right now?
33:04 Yeah, with those viruses and flu viruses, ear infections can follow.
33:08 So I'm excited to introduce SmartCheck from Children's Dialynol, which is an easy to use otoscope device that provides parents and caregivers with 24/7 access to expert care.
33:20 So it allows caregivers to remotely capture and share recordings of their child's eardrum with the health care professional to check for a potential ear infection remotely.
33:31 This safe product works just like a health care professional's otoscope, which is a magnifying tool to visualize the eardrum and ear canal,
33:39 turning a once professional only device to an easy to use device at home.
33:45 Oh, my goodness, doctor. I know there's probably parents right now that are very excited about this because that's one thing they deal with, those earaches at this time of year.
33:52 And so with that, how do patients and caregivers stay prepared for ear infections?
33:58 Yeah, so to prepare for the cold and flu season, it's really great to go through your medicine cabinet and make sure to throw away any expired products and replenish whatever is needed.
34:08 Also, having the proper tools is important, such as a digital thermometer and a personal otoscope.
34:14 Very important. Okay, what should patients do if their child is expecting or experiencing an earache and symptoms?
34:21 Yeah, so not all ear pain is an ear infection and not all ear infections need an antibiotic.
34:27 So luckily, new telehealth tools like SmartCheck can help you check for a potential ear infection from the comfort of your home.
34:35 SmartCheck simply slides over most iPhone or Android cameras, turning the smartphone camera into a personal otoscope.
34:44 And using the free companion app, caregivers can capture a clear, high quality recording of their child's eardrum using the patented eardrum finder guidance feature
34:56 and send that video recording through the paired app to their doctor or telemedicine provider to gain access to 24/7 expert care.
35:05 Okay. Doctor, why is it important for parents to start using telehealth and taking care of their kids and their family?
35:12 And, you know, telehealth is relatively new for parents, so it can seem a little bit daunting.
35:17 But what I found utilizing it with in-person clinical practice is that it can provide parents with reassurance and peace of mind.
35:25 So it's not going to take the place of in-person care, but what it can do is provide a parent with an understanding of what they need to do,
35:33 peace of mind, as well as next steps, including if a child needs to be seen in person for an evaluation or maybe antibiotics.
35:41 Doctor, I'm telling you, this is such a great tool for families, especially as we said, during the cold and flu season.
35:48 And with parents hearing the kids say, "My ear, my ear," and they don't know, of course, what we do, we take a flashlight and look in there.
35:54 This is going to be so much better for them to do it.
35:57 So where can we find more information?
36:00 Yeah, for more information, go to Tylenol.com, and that includes also visuals on how to use the product.
36:06 Doctor, thank you very much for joining us this morning.
36:09 Thank you for having me.
36:11 [♪♪]

36:39 We love giving that special someone something shiny and new for Valentine's Day.
36:44 And how about this year, give them a little history for a gift?
36:47 And joining me is Todd Carson of Todd Carson Antiques with some unique Valentine's Day gifts for us.
36:52 And Todd, how are you doing?
36:54 I am fine, thank you. Pleasure to be here.
36:56 So, all right, let's talk antiques first because that's what you do.
36:59 That's what I do primarily, yes.
37:01 And those are great gifts to give because you're giving a little bit of history to someone you love.
37:06 Well, a piece of history and a little bit of character.
37:09 So not everything is shiny, and we do have like an English tea caddy.
37:13 These are some French bronze candlesticks that are little cherubs, which is nice for Valentine's Day.
37:19 And then this is an English biscuit barrel, which you could fill it up with some little hard candy.
37:24 Wait, a biscuit barrel?
37:25 It's a biscuit barrel. The British used them for tea time.
37:27 Oh, wow.
37:28 So this is also just-- this is what I really do most of the time.
37:33 But we also sell design books. We sell candles.
37:37 These are little champagne candles that are $17.
37:40 Oh, phew, I thought they were champagnes.
37:42 They're not little champagnes. They're not a split.
37:44 They're candles. They're $17.
37:47 And then we sell different design books, books about Hermes, blue baton shoes.
37:52 Then we even have things for the gentlemen.
37:55 We sell soaps and cologne, picture frames, which kind of appeal to everyone.
38:00 Both of these are under $75.
38:02 And then just simple notepads that are, you know, like $19 for children.
38:08 And then for young people, we have things they can give to their girlfriends, their boyfriends, grandma, grandpa.
38:13 And then we have other things as well.
38:15 Yeah, well, I love that you have the things for those who love books, because that's one thing, especially the fashion design.
38:22 But you called them a special book that people might not understand. I love the word. It was called--
38:26 Shelter.
38:27 Shelter books.
38:28 Shelter publication.
38:29 This is anything to do with interior design or design in general, or not design, interior design.
38:35 It's called a shelter publication.
38:37 I love that.
38:38 As opposed to fashion.
38:39 Right, and so that's what's really for those people that are looking for those kind of gifts for the coffee table,
38:43 or for that person that loves interior design and looking, which is nice.
38:46 You talked about the men here. I like this soap here. This is kind of interesting here.
38:50 So where is this soap from? This isn't--
38:52 This is actually made in the United States, but the scents are really musky, and they have a great smell.
39:00 I even have men who have received this as a gift, and they've come back in to order it for themselves.
39:05 And it comes in a variety of fragrances, and they all smell good, and they're very masculine, and they're not expensive.
39:12 All right, let's talk antiques, because again, people coming in looking for antiques.
39:15 What do you recommend if someone's coming in maybe for the first time to get their partner into antiquing,
39:20 and they want to start them off with something, what would you suggest?
39:24 What they're interested in. But I always say start with something small and kind of work their way into things that are more important.
39:32 But I have a lot of people who collect certain things, and tea caddies is something people tend to collect,
39:37 and also candlesticks, there's always room on the table for another candle.
39:41 So this is a great place to start if you want to begin collecting.
39:44 What about jewelry? Do you carry jewelry at all?
39:47 I do not, because I don't want it walking out the front door.
39:50 So I do not carry jewelry, and it's a lot of work.
39:53 I'm a one-and-a-half-man operation, so I have two people who help me part-time, and I just can't do it all.
40:01 And that's important, too, because I know with people looking for jewelry, there's a lot that goes into finding that and stuff.
40:06 And I don't know anything about jewelry. This is what I know about, and somewhat this, but I think it's important to have gifts.
40:13 Not everyone can come in and spend $300 or $400 on an antique.
40:17 Cabinet or mirror photo. Let's take a look at these right here. This is beautiful that we're seeing here.
40:23 What do we have on the screen right there?
40:25 That is a pair of cabinets. Those are from about 1850, and they belonged to the Stillman family.
40:32 Where my store is located in the Seville Shopping Center, that used to be the Stillman's ranch.
40:39 That entire shopping mall was their property.
40:43 And there's a pair of these cabinets that came from their house in upstate New York, and when they moved to the United States, they brought them with them.
40:51 And when Mr. Stillman died, Mrs. Stillman sold the property and sold the cabinets.
40:56 Yeah. All right. And this piece right here.
40:59 Oh, that was here. Oh, that was a picture frame.
41:02 That was right here. That was the frame. There we go. The mirror. There we go.
41:05 The mirror. There's a pair of those, actually. They're very late 18th century or early, early 19th century.
41:12 Those belong to Charles Keating, and they were in the restaurant Mary Elaine's at the Phoenician.
41:17 Yeah. When he had that restaurant and he took his family on a buying trip to France when he was before he opened the restaurant.
41:25 And that was a pair of mirrors that he purchased there.
41:28 Beautiful. Todd, I love this. This is awesome. Glad you came by to show us this again.
41:32 Looking for those great Valentine's gift information around the screen, how you can find Todd Carson.
41:37 Also, you can head over to azdailymix.com.
