00:00 Hello again, I do hope you were able to make the most of the fine weather many of us had
00:04 today because the rest of the week is looking pretty wet. At the moment we have an area
00:09 of low pressure to the north west of the UK, that's leading to some brisk winds and those
00:13 winds are coming from the north west which is why there is a chilly feel to things with
00:17 that polar air across the UK. But our attention is turning to an area of low pressure just
00:22 to the south west of us that is going to head towards the UK as we go through Tuesday bringing
00:27 some wet weather to many parts. Back to the here and now though and as we go through the
00:31 end of Monday we do have some showery outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow over parts of Scotland
00:36 above 200-300m or so, that's where we're likely to see any snow, could see a couple of centimetres
00:42 accumulating in places. Further showery outbreaks continuing through the night though the snow
00:46 risk is somewhat decreasing as we go through the early hours. Elsewhere yes there will
00:50 be some outbreaks of rain overnight but for many places it will stay often quite dry and
00:55 there will be some clear skies around too under which temperatures are going to take
00:59 a bit of a dip. Across the south many places falling to mid single figures, perhaps a little
01:03 bit chillier than this, away from the towns and cities. Further north low single figures
01:08 quite likely, in fact in the north east of Scotland it could drop a little bit below
01:12 freezing, not quite as cold as last night when it did fall several degrees below freezing
01:17 but nonetheless a touch of frost is quite likely towards the north east of Scotland
01:21 and also watch out for some icy patches first thing Tuesday morning as well. Otherwise as
01:26 we go through Tuesday showers again for parts of Scotland particularly towards the west,
01:30 some feeding further eastwards, maybe a bit of hill snow over the highest points but many
01:34 places just seeing a few outbreaks of rain. The more persistent heavier rain though is
01:39 likely to push up from the south west as we go through the day, particularly across parts
01:42 of Wales, south west England that's where we are likely to see some heavy bursts of
01:46 rain. We could see 20 to 30 millimetres perhaps possibly even a little bit more building up.
01:51 Shouldn't cause any major issues but nonetheless it is going to be a fairly wet day and that
01:56 rain will spread across much of England, Wales and into Northern Ireland as we go through
02:01 the day too with plenty of cloud mixed in with it as well. The greatest chance of seeing
02:05 some sunshine then will be across more central northern parts of Scotland but like I say
02:10 you do need to watch out for a few showers. A bit of a north south split in terms of our
02:14 temperatures on Tuesday, milder air starting to push its way in from the south west so
02:18 we're likely to see highs of around 13 or 14 Celsius here but further north temperatures
02:23 still on the chilly side around 6 or 7 at best. Later on on Tuesday we stick with the
02:29 cloudy rather wet theme across much of the UK however across the northern two thirds
02:35 of Scotland largely clear skies and under these clear skies it is going to turn pretty
02:40 cold. Temperatures probably a little colder than this coming night so we could see some
02:45 rural spots falling as low as -5, -6 so a fairly widespread harsh frost across many
02:51 parts of Scotland. Less so for southern Scotland where the cloud and some outbreaks of rain
02:55 is likely to have pushed its way in and that's the theme across the rest of the UK. A fairly
03:00 mild start to the day on Wednesday morning because of the cloudy wet picture. As we go
03:05 through Wednesday itself then sticking with that relatively unsettled theme. Outbreaks
03:09 of showery rain at times perhaps something a little bit more persistent pushing into
03:13 the south and developing across parts of Northern Ireland, Northern England and feeding into
03:17 southern Scotland too. Could be some heavier breaks mixed in with this but in between those
03:23 two zones of rain something a little bit drier perhaps across more central parts of the UK
03:27 and we may see some brightness but again the greatest chance of seeing some bright or sunny
03:31 skies will be across northern parts of Scotland but this is where it's still going to be quite
03:36 chilly again. Temperatures only rising to highs of around 6 or 7 Celsius whereas elsewhere
03:41 more widely we're going to see temperatures well into double figures. As we go later on
03:46 in the week and I think as we go through the end of Wednesday into Thursday we can expect
03:50 some pretty unsettled weather to arrive. Could be some heavy persistent rain for a time which
03:55 could lead to some issues. Before then a weak ridge of high pressure builds for Friday so
03:59 at the moment Friday does look like it's going to be largely dry but that dry settled weather
04:04 may not last particularly long with further fronts waiting out in the west. We do have
04:09 a more in depth look at the week ahead forecast available on our YouTube channel otherwise
04:13 I'll see you again soon. Bye bye.
