00:00 Magicians and chefs are usually people who don't share their secrets, but Spinato's Pizzeria
00:06 and Family Kitchen is happy to share the spotlight with magicians on a mission for their 50th
00:12 anniversary celebration.
00:13 Jamie and Chris are here to tell us maybe some of their secrets?
00:17 A couple maybe?
00:20 So Spinato's is celebrating 50 years in business this year and we have a bunch of fun stuff
00:25 going on in celebration of our anniversary.
00:28 That's incredible.
00:29 Tell us a little bit about it.
00:30 So we are, one of our core values is community, so we decided to come up with a pizza.
00:37 It's called State Golden Pizza to celebrate our Jubilee year.
00:41 Because 50 years is your golden anniversary.
00:43 It is.
00:44 Okay, I love it.
00:45 So with a portion of proceeds from this pizza, it will go over to Magicians on Mission.
00:50 Great.
00:51 But I want to tell you a little bit about this pizza too.
00:53 Tell me about it because this looks absolutely gorgeous.
00:55 Thank you.
00:57 So this pizza has three cheeses.
00:59 It is stracciatella, mozzarella, and ricotta with the base of fig and roasted red pepper.
01:07 It has a nougat sausage, it has lanzino, salami, confit tomatoes, and then it is topped with
01:15 basil and a little sprinkle of golden dust.
01:20 Ooh, golden dust.
01:22 What's golden dust?
01:23 It's edible golden dust.
01:24 It is like sparkling, you guys.
01:27 This pizza is so beautiful, which is a great way to celebrate the pizza, the 50 years.
01:32 This is so exciting.
01:33 And I was reading a little bit about your guys' family history, and it says here that
01:37 on the first day you guys were open, they only made 69 cents.
01:41 Is that right?
01:42 Yeah, that's correct.
01:43 It was an iced tea that we sold.
01:44 Oh my goodness.
01:45 And you have come so far since then.
01:47 I mean, the history of Spinato's is incredible.
01:49 You are definitely a staple here in the Valley, which is really, really beautiful.
01:52 Thank you.
01:53 So, you guys have been open for Magicians on 50 years, and I think we should celebrate
01:57 a little bit more.
01:58 I don't know, Jamie, can we do one of these guys?
02:00 Yes, let's do it.
02:01 Okay, how do we open these?
02:02 Okay, so I think you, you know, like a push-up pop.
02:05 I think you just kind of push up with it.
02:07 All right, ready?
02:08 Yep.
02:09 One, two, three.
02:10 Woo!
02:11 Woo, it's so exciting!
02:12 Yay, congratulations.
02:13 All right, well, since you guys are partnering with Magicians on Mission, tell us a little
02:20 bit about how that's going to work.
02:22 Yeah, so like I was saying, a portion of proceeds from this pizza will go over to Magicians
02:27 on Mission, and I'll let Chris take it away with me.
02:30 Yeah, so Chris, welcome.
02:32 First of all, I have to say that we're super excited to have you in here, but also that
02:35 you've recently been on Penn & Teller, which is a show that we have here on The CW7.
02:39 Tell us a little bit about that experience.
02:41 So that was 2016, so I was on season three, episode 12, and I got invited up to Vegas,
02:49 and I was actually one of 11 people that year that succeeded in fooling them.
02:53 Wow, oh my goodness, that is a huge feat right there.
02:57 But tell us a little bit about what you guys do.
03:01 So Magicians on Mission, what we do is we provide active duty military support.
03:06 So I put together teams of magicians, and I send them overseas to bring a touch of home,
03:12 time to relax, time to de-stress for a little bit, and show our service members that they're
03:18 not forgotten.
03:19 Wow, that's really cool, because there's nothing quite as special as a magic show, right?
03:24 Like you were saying, you actually fooled Penn & Teller, which is a huge deal, and it
03:29 really is kind of super magical and special, right, when you see a magic trick.
03:34 So I hear you're going to do one for us?
03:35 Sure.
03:36 Okay.
03:37 We'll do one that's kind of centered around this.
03:38 Oh, great.
03:39 It's actually a test of perception.
03:41 What I have here is some $1 bills.
03:42 Just by the weight, how many $1 bills do you think are there?
03:46 Probably six or seven.
03:47 Six or seven, fantastic.
03:48 Do you know how many locations Spinato's has in the Valley?
03:52 I don't know.
03:53 We have six.
03:54 Exactly.
03:55 Oh, my goodness.
03:56 Okay, so we've got it for almost each one.
03:57 There you go.
03:58 And then we have concessions.
03:59 So I have six $1 bills here.
04:00 Okay.
04:01 One, two, three, four, five, six.
04:02 Now, here's the cool thing about being a magician.
04:03 I can change things, smush the ink around, change them to like fives, tens, twenties,
04:07 fifties, hundreds.
04:08 What would you like to see?
04:09 $100 bills, absolutely.
04:10 Oh, I was going to give you a clue.
04:12 We're celebrating what year?
04:14 Oh, 50.
04:15 Okay, so 50.
04:16 Let's do 50.
04:17 Yeah.
04:18 And the cool thing is that we always celebrate.
04:19 Oh, my gosh.
04:20 And making these.
04:21 Oh, my goodness.
04:22 We have six $50 bills.
04:24 You can check it out.
04:25 And I get to take this home today, right?
04:26 No, I have a nine-year-old to pay for.
04:27 All right.
04:28 Well, that was incredible.
04:29 Is that one of the tricks that you did on Penn & Teller?
04:34 It is not.
04:35 Oh, okay.
04:36 Well, that one would have fooled them because that was incredible.
04:37 And you probably would have won them over by giving them a couple extra bucks in their
04:41 pocket.
04:42 That's called bribery, but sure.
04:44 That also works, Chris.
04:45 Thank you so much.
04:46 All right, Jamie.
04:47 Can you tell us a little bit about some of the things that you're doing throughout the
04:49 year that everybody can be involved in for your 50th anniversary?
04:52 Absolutely.
04:53 So, we have a cocktail that we're...
04:57 It's called the Golden Hour, and so that's a fun little thing that we could celebrate
05:01 with.
05:02 And then we're also doing a wedding dress era party.
05:06 So, that is in the works, which we'll be able to wear our old wedding dresses and come to
05:13 spin on those.
05:14 That's perfect because I have some laying around.
05:15 Okay, that sounds great.
05:16 And you can put a little pizza on it because you've already worn it for your wedding.
05:18 Yeah, exactly.
05:19 All right, this is so great.
05:20 Why don't we pour some of the champagne to celebrate?
05:22 Chris, thank you for fooling everybody.
05:24 And congratulations to Spinatas on 50 years.
05:27 Yeah.
05:28 Cheers.
05:28 - Yay!
