00:00 To come and do this and see these kids' faces light up when you just simply walk in the room.
00:04 I mean, it's the greatest feeling in the world.
00:08 Just knowing how much you do for them doing so little.
00:11 It kind of puts things in perspective, lets you know what's most important
00:14 and just how small of a task you can do and how big of a reward it brings to these kids.
00:23 And not just the kids, but everybody involved in this event.
00:26 It's been amazing seeing that, helping kids pick out jerseys.
00:30 They come here, they can pick anything in the stores, a bunch of stuff in here.
00:33 And then they come in and grab my jersey.
00:35 It's a really good feeling.
00:37 It's just an exciting event to be on.
00:39 It's just well taken care of, well thought out.
00:42 So it's a good thing.
00:44 How do the kids inspire you?
00:46 I mean, with the smiles that they have, with the things that they're going through.
00:50 You think about the things that we consider to be stressful
00:53 and you think about what they actually have to experience in real life things,
00:57 you know, regarding their health and the things that their families have to go through in turn.
01:02 So it's kind of like I said, it helps you put things in perspective and know what's important.
01:07 For those of us that know you and cover you every day,
01:10 you do a lot of this when there aren't cameras.
01:13 It isn't about the cameras for you.
01:15 Does that come from your family? Does it come from Grandma?
01:17 Where does that come from?
01:19 Because you're doing this a lot when nobody knows.
01:22 Yeah, I mean it's a little bit of everything.
01:24 I think it's obviously deeply rooted and it's something that I learned growing up.
01:31 It's something that became a part of me and I just wanted to kind of help people
01:34 because I was helped along the way.
01:36 Not necessarily in the same exact ways, but if I have a bigger opportunity to help people,
01:42 whether it's like I said, time or if it's a financial contribution or whatever it is,
01:47 I want to do whatever I can to help people that are less fortunate because I've been in that predicament
01:51 and helping somebody else doesn't typically take anything away from me.
01:56 It's just time. At the end of the day, that's really what matters.
02:00 It's easy for me to make the decision like this.
02:02 Awesome. You know Luke Getzey.
02:04 How excited were you that AP tabbed him to be your offensive coordinator?
02:09 I was really excited. That was a good feeling, knowing a guy that I've worked with.
02:14 I know how he works. I know how his mind works.
02:17 We've had success together, so it's definitely exciting.
02:20 What's he going to bring?
02:22 Innovation. He's the type of coach that's open-minded,
02:28 going to be open to hearing things from the veteran players that know how this thing works
02:34 and the best way to do things. A lot of different things, but just the open-mindedness
02:39 and like I said, the innovation to the offense, the good run-pass balance.
02:44 That's what I'm used to, the West Coast style. It'll be fun getting to work on new systems.
02:53 That's a little more familiar for me.
02:55 You guys talk to him every day?
02:57 We do.
02:59 We're going to let Devante get back to hanging with the kids.
03:03 Thanks.
