00:00 Welcome back to the Arizona Daily Mix out here at the WN Phoenix Open.
00:04 A lot going on out here and one place that everyone loves to hang out and that's the driving range
00:09 where it's kind of quiet right now, most likely because a lot of the guys are in the gym working out
00:15 and that's what the pros are doing quite a bit and I got to actually work with
00:18 Wynn Clark's trainer to see how golf pros get in shape. Take a look.
00:27 I am standing here with the guru of golf swings for pro golfers, Andrew. Can I say that?
00:33 Sure, we'll say it.
00:34 We'll say it. Well, because this is the thing, Andrew, is that we're seeing more and more
00:38 pro golfers spending time in the gym getting their bodies ready to take on, of course, the tour,
00:43 but even off season they're in the gym. Why is that?
00:46 Yeah, we just with the grueling season, all the travel they do, we want to take care of their
00:51 bodies. Obviously, golf is a very athletic skill and movement, so we want to make sure that their
00:56 bodies, their muscles, their tissues ready for that type of movement, especially when they play
01:01 20 to 30 events a year.
01:02 Yeah, and the other thing is that it's not just the pro golfers, it's the amateur golfers too
01:07 you work with, because again, we find more people get hurt out there when they're not properly
01:11 in shape to play golf and wonder why, you know, on my back or anything like that.
01:16 It's all about working out.
01:17 Yeah, I think a lot of amateurs, I mean, they have their jobs, they travel a lot too,
01:21 just with their everyday lives, so a lot of people want to play more. So they come and see us,
01:25 get their body right, get stronger, they won't hit the ball further, so again,
01:28 we want to make sure that they're in the right shape to do that.
01:31 Yeah, all right, you're going to take me through a couple of workouts here.
01:34 One is because you do have a U.S. Open Championship under your belt, Mr. Wyndham Clark,
01:42 which is really good. What's his swing? How far do you think he hits this ballpark?
01:47 He's top five in driving distance, I mean, couple last three years. He's very athletic,
01:52 grew up playing multiple sports, but he's a special dude.
01:55 350?
01:55 Probably, yeah.
01:57 400?
01:57 Probably not 400, but 350 is probably what he gets out there, not 450.
02:01 No?
02:02 No.
02:02 That's me.
02:02 That's what we're trying to get for.
02:03 Well, I'm 450.
02:04 450?
02:05 Yeah, so that's right.
02:06 Like I said, baby fade.
02:07 Yep, I can fade it, whatever you need to do. It's all that on PlayStation.
02:10 All right.
02:10 All right, let's go work out.
02:14 All right, let's go.
02:15 Let's start over here.
02:15 Now, what's the first thing we're going to work on?
02:17 Yeah, so we kind of skipped a few steps. Usually, I'll take him through like a warm-up,
02:20 like we might do some dynamic stretching, going through the floor,
02:23 but I might take him to the cable machine and just kind of get their balance right.
02:27 So I'm going to have your right foot forward,
02:29 and with the left hand, you're going to rotate across and press.
02:32 Okay.
02:33 So I'm going to rotate, come across, keep that arm straight.
02:36 Got it.
02:37 And you're able to kind of engage core, but also work on that balance.
02:40 Okay.
02:40 Kind of transfer to that side.
02:41 All right, so.
02:42 So right foot forward.
02:42 Come on.
02:43 Hey, that's a little heavy.
02:47 Just bump it down a bit?
02:49 Yeah, let's bump it down.
02:50 There you go.
02:51 No, no.
02:52 That's good. All right, what's next?
02:56 Whoa, that was a slice.
03:04 Whoa, see, I'm going to throw it. Okay.
03:08 All right, one more. What do you got for me?
03:09 A slice. So now we're going to focus more on lower body.
03:12 So I want you to start kind of in the balanced position.
03:14 You're going to step to the right, getting this lateral lunge,
03:18 and I want you to push off this right leg to get back to that balanced position.
03:22 Right.
03:22 Got it.
03:23 So now I'm using the ground, create some force to get back to here.
03:26 Nice. And what's that doing for me? What's that doing on us?
03:28 So again, it's kind of working a different plane of motion.
03:31 Yeah.
03:31 A lot of people, when they work out, they do a lot of squats, deadlifts.
03:34 Right.
03:34 With golfers, we want to make sure we kind of hit different planes.
03:36 So going into like a lateral position, this is frontal plane,
03:40 and be able to use the ground and also to get back to balance as well.
03:44 Okay.
03:44 So this is good right here?
03:45 Yep, so start up.
03:46 Start up.
03:48 Step to the right.
03:48 Step, put it down.
03:49 Put it down, push back.
03:50 Push back.
03:51 Good.
03:52 Oh, and keep going?
03:53 Yep, let's do it.
03:53 Oh, oh.
03:55 Kind of teaches amateurs just how to use the ground.
04:02 If they want to develop more speed, that's really where the speed comes from.
04:05 It's from the ground up.
04:06 Yeah.
04:07 Get the lower body a little bit stronger.
04:08 So and then of course, the pros that we're seeing during the open
04:11 are the ones who literally come and sit with you for a while and stay in shape.
04:15 Yep.
04:16 Yep, so we're just trying to.
04:17 Yeah, well, it's so funny.
04:19 We all right.
04:20 Yeah, I know.
04:21 It's not that funny.
04:22 That's not funny.
04:23 But yeah, it's good stuff.
04:24 Yeah, it was.
04:25 It was a good set.
04:26 Just a couple of sets.
04:26 Three like that.
04:27 Three exercises were good.
04:28 I like that.
04:29 All right, man.
04:29 Hey, how can people get ahold of you if they want to start, of course, training like a pro?
04:33 Yeah, so you could contact me through this website, premierefitnesssystems.com,
04:37 or I post a lot of content online, especially Instagram.
04:39 So ando_pfs, probably the best way to reach me, especially through DMs and all my content.
04:45 All right.
04:45 There it is.
04:46 All right, I'm ready.
04:46 I'm ready to get back to the PlayStation.
04:49 All right.
