It's time to take a closer look at the weather, as torrential rain and windy conditions for much of the UK gives way to an Arctic blast bringing with it snow and ice, with some areas expected to see up to ten inches of snow. Let's take a closer look.

The Met office has issued a weather warning for parts of the UK as the nation gets hit by an Arctic Blast. North Wales, Shropshire, the Peak District and the Southern Pennines are expected to see some of the worst of the weather along with some areas in the North East.

Into Friday and weather warnings extend to the west and east Midlands, including Wolverhampton, Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. This Arctic Blast is a result of Arctic air pushing down over the UK which has then collided with the rain front moving across England and Wales which has been bringing very wet conditions for the past few days.

Though the rain is expected to continue over the weekend for many of us, the threat of snow and ice is likely to diminish as temperatures become slightly milder. In the meantime the advice as always is to take care while travelling and check ahead for any disruption.
