00:00 I'm Joe Gaither and this is Bama Central's Just a Minute.
00:03 It's Wednesday, February 7th and the transition is complete.
00:07 We finally have a full Alabama football coaching staff
00:10 after Coach Nick Saban's departure in retirement.
00:13 Obviously, everyone knows that Caleb DeBoer was hired just three days later
00:17 from the University of Washington, but he has finally filled out the rest of his
00:21 coaching staff and we now know who will lead the Alabama Crimson Tide football
00:25 team going forward.
00:27 From Washington, Coach DeBoer brings a handful of coaches.
00:30 He brings Ryan Grubb as the offensive coordinator,
00:32 Jamarcus Shepard as his wide receivers coach, Scott Huff as his offensive line
00:37 coach, and Nick Sheridan as his tight ends coach.
00:40 Those were known on the offensive side of the ball, but this week,
00:43 he officially brought in William Inge as his linebackers coach/co-defensive
00:48 coordinator.
00:49 Kane Womack is gonna be the defensive coordinator, former head coach from South
00:53 Alabama, along with Freddie Roach and Robert Gillespie, still holdovers from
00:58 the previous staff.
00:59 Freddie Roach will once again coach the defensive line, and
01:02 Robert Gillespie will coach the running backs as he's done in years past.
01:06 We'll also bring in a couple of head coaches and
01:08 a couple of guys with defensive coordinator experience.
01:12 We mentioned William Inge from University of Washington.
01:15 He has defensive coordinator experience.
01:17 Maurice Linguist is a head coach from Buffalo, and
01:21 he was also a defensive coordinator as well.
01:24 Colin Hitchler comes from Wisconsin.
01:26 He's gonna be coaching defensive backs along with Linguist.
01:29 So you've got great experience on the defensive side of the football.
01:33 Three different guys, Linguist, Inge, and
01:36 Womack all have defensive coordinator experience.
01:39 And Womack and Linguist also have head coaching experience
01:43 at the Division I level.
01:45 It's gonna be a very young, very energized coaching staff,
01:51 and the guys have been out there on the road recruiting very,
01:54 very heavily over the last couple of weeks.
01:56 The addition of William Inge and special teams coordinator Jay Nunez in
02:01 the last two days solidifies the entire coaching roster.
02:06 Alabama has 11 coaches, only 10 are on the field.
02:09 So it stands, the question is, who's going to be left off the field?
02:14 The speculation at this moment in February is Jay Nunez will be left off
02:18 the field and you'll have the other 10 guys, Grubb, Gillespie, Shepherd, Huff,
02:22 Sheridan, Womack, Roach, Inge, Linguist, and
02:26 Hitchler as the on-field coaches joining head coach, Kalen DeBoer.
02:30 We'll have to follow and
02:31 find out how exactly the responsibilities are divided up by head coach, Kalen DeBoer.
02:36 Spring practice will get underway very, very soon.
02:39 You'll be able to follow it all at bamacentral and bamacentral.com.
02:42 We look forward to getting to know all of these assistant coaches in the very,
02:46 very near future.
02:47 For bamacentral and bamacentral.com, this has been just a minute,
02:50 an inside look at the entire coaching staff on the Alabama football team,
02:55 now that the transition has been complete.
02:57 I'm Joe Gaither, stick around for Bama Central the rest of the day as we get
03:01 covered on the Alabama and Auburn Iron Bowl of basketball.
03:05 We'll send Blake Beiler and
03:06 Matthew Gibson down to Auburn tonight for coverage.
