00:00 >> I hear guys, you know, mention, they talk about you and say,
00:03 he's a guy that's just a game manager and things like that.
00:06 Isn't that the job of a quarterback to manage the game?
00:09 So what's your thoughts on these things?
00:12 >> Yeah, exactly that.
00:14 Like, I feel like it can be a compliment at times where it's like, all right,
00:18 you get a guy that can come in and run the system well.
00:21 I feel like that's a compliment.
00:23 I think that's, you're doing things right mentally.
00:26 And obviously you're good enough to be able to hit guys that are open and
00:29 make plays.
00:30 There's 32 teams in the NFL and there's not a lot of people that can come in and
00:37 play the quarterback position well in the NFL.
00:38 It's a hard job.
00:40 So if you're saying that I'm a game manager and
00:43 I don't look flashy in how I do it, I mean, that's your opinion and that's okay.
00:48 And at the end of the day, I wanna do what it takes to help my team win.
00:51 And so I think winning at the end of the day in the NFL is probably the biggest and
00:55 most important thing.
00:56 >> You've been on the channel a lot about faith for a long time.
01:00 A lot of players on the other side, they talk about faith.
01:03 What does that mean?
01:04 You pray, you play well, you pray in a good way.
01:07 How do you reconcile, as a football team,
01:10 how do you reconcile whether it's you or them about what this is,
01:14 the faith that's involved?
01:16 >> Yeah, I feel like it's so cool seeing across the league and
01:19 the other teams that you play, like other people that obviously believe in God and
01:23 glorify God through everything.
01:26 I think it's awesome.
01:26 And for me, I look at it as just our identity isn't in the sport of football.
01:31 It's in who God calls us to be and what he wants us to do in life and
01:35 what he says in the Bible.
01:37 And for us, obviously, we're playing football, it's our job, but
01:42 it's not who we are.
01:43 And we're loved no matter what because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross.
01:48 And we get to go and be transformed and love people through that.
01:52 We're football, it's our job and we wanna do it well.
01:54 But man, it's not gonna go perfect all the time.
01:57 You're gonna win games and people are gonna love you.
01:59 You're gonna lose games, people are gonna hate you.
02:01 And so as a believer and all the believers in the NFL,
02:05 that's what we mean by glorifying God, win or lose.
02:09 We're loved through him and because of him,
02:12 not based off of if we're a good football player.
02:14 >> When you win the Super Bowl,
02:17 are we gonna see a recreation of the PYT dance?
02:21 >> I don't know yet, I don't know.
02:22 We obviously gotta take it one play at a time.
02:24 We wanna win more than anything and if we get to celebrate after, great.
02:28 And have some fun with it, that'd be great too.
02:29 >> [INAUDIBLE]
02:37 >> Yeah, I mean, I think, honestly,
02:40 just trying to play the position well.
02:42 I feel like last year there was times where situationally I was trying to make
02:47 up stuff and do too much, getting out of the pocket early and
02:51 scrambling, not going through reads.
02:53 I feel like this year I took a step just in terms of trusting the protection,
02:57 checking the ball down, and just being smart with the ball.
03:00 Obviously, there were some games where I need to learn from it still and
03:03 I need to continue to be better at.
03:05 But I feel like that's an area of my game, just trusting the pocket,
03:08 going through reads, and playing the position of quarterback well.
03:11 I feel like that was a step for me this year.
03:13 >> Thinking back to your childhood,
03:15 what's your first memory of the Super Bowl or watching the Super Bowl?
03:21 >> Man, the first Super Bowl memory that I can remember,
03:26 I think we were having a Super Bowl party at our house.
03:28 I think it was the Cardinals and Steelers.
03:31 And I think James Harrison had that 100 yard return.
03:36 And then Santonio Holmes in the corner of the end zone,
03:39 Big Ben at the end of the game.
03:40 I think that was my first Super Bowl that I can remember.
03:43 [CROSSTALK]
03:53 >> [INAUDIBLE]
04:03 >> He uses his what?
04:17 >> His head, his mind, his ideas, his strategy.
04:20 >> Yeah, no, 100%.
04:21 I mean, I feel like just with my career and sort of how it's been,
04:26 since high school, recruiting, college, NFL.
04:29 I haven't been the biggest, the fastest, the strongest, but
04:31 I feel like I've found ways to win.
04:34 And I think that's obviously using my mind and
04:38 anticipating things and winning games that way.
04:42 Over hurling somebody or outrunning somebody or throwing a ball 70 yards.
04:47 I feel like that definitely has applied to my life.
