00:00 Okay, the quiz question for this morning is, who's 70 years old?
00:08 Hey, watch your mouth.
00:10 I don't want those smart aleck answers.
00:13 I was serious when I said who's 70 years old.
00:16 And Joe Cusack from the Rotary Club and a number of other positions is here to answer
00:22 the question because there's a couple of groups that you're recognizing this week, aren't
00:27 you?
00:28 That's true.
00:29 I'm 70 years old, although I am pushing it.
00:32 So not only is the Parada del Sol 70 years old, 1954.
00:35 Wait, wait, now there are people from Cincinnati who have no idea what you just said.
00:39 The Parada del Sol.
00:41 So Scottsdale has had for 70 years now the most western town and they have had a parade
00:47 that precedes a rodeo.
00:50 And so the Parada del Sol parade and the Parada del Sol rodeo.
00:54 And up until maybe 10 years or so ago, if you didn't have a horse, you weren't in the
00:58 parade.
00:59 It's changed a little bit since then, but it's now 70 years old.
01:02 What's also nice.
01:03 I'm sorry, go ahead.
01:04 I know what I was going to say that the parade, just the very fact that it's 70 years old,
01:11 that is older than the Fiesta Ball parade.
01:14 Correct.
01:15 Another one of the great events here.
01:17 But there's Veterans Day parades, St. Patrick's Day parade.
01:21 The Parada del Sol not only is kind of the senior, but it has decided, well, maybe there
01:29 were just too many horses.
01:31 And so you have floats this year, one of them recognizing the other 70 year old participant.
01:37 Correct.
01:38 And so that would be the Wallace and Ladmo show, which is fantastic.
01:43 Wallace and Ladmo show, as you know, I'm sure started in 1954.
01:46 I grew up watching you and Wallace and Ladmo and everyone else.
01:50 And you were on the show and actually got a Ladmo bag.
01:52 I was.
01:53 I was on it several times and it was great.
01:55 I was a little kid.
01:56 Yeah.
01:57 There are people right now saying, where does Joe live?
01:59 I want to know where the Ladmo bag is.
02:02 Now, Joe, you are not only Rotary Club Scottsdale member, but also the glamour of driving a
02:09 parade float.
02:11 Correct.
02:12 That's high crimes there.
02:13 Yes.
02:14 Did you volunteer for that position?
02:15 I did.
02:17 Would you do it again?
02:18 I did again.
02:19 Yes.
02:20 This is the second year.
02:21 So, and you know, no one, no one was killed on the first time around.
02:24 So we'll try it again.
02:25 Well, what nobody knows and perhaps most people did not know that Wallace and Ladmo float
02:31 is going to be featured not only on Sundays here on Channel 7 as a program that reruns
02:38 of the comedy, but Saturday, Parade of Del Sol, there will be a float that I'll be on
02:46 as a part of the Wallace and Ladmo show all those years, but I will be joined by Aunt
02:53 Maud, one of the well-known senior characters of the show and pretty successful rock and
03:01 roll star, Hubcap.
03:03 Very true.
03:04 He lost his wheels, but he will be on the float with me.
03:08 See, and I listened to Hubcap when I was a kid.
03:10 I didn't know any better and it was fantastic.
03:14 Tell me about though, the parade beyond the fact that I'm doing all this self-promotion.
03:21 What else should we be watching for if we're on the sidelines watching as part of the audience?
03:28 Well, you know, there's about 170 floats I think this year.
03:33 It's fantastic.
03:34 How long is the parade supposed to last?
03:37 About two hours.
03:38 Don't worry, Pat, we're in the front.
03:40 So you'll be out of there.
03:41 Okay.
03:42 Starting when though?
03:43 It starts at 10 o'clock.
03:44 Yeah.
03:45 It rides through Old Town, Scottsdale.
03:48 And I think everybody in the parade takes about 20, 25 minutes to actually get through
03:52 the parade.
03:54 This is exciting for me because Wallace and Lad and I, when they were still with us, got
04:01 a chance to be in the front of those.
04:05 Sometimes they wanted us to ride horses, Gerald said, "Are you out of your mind?"
04:10 But it's kind of a homecoming for me.
04:12 I'm glad.
04:13 Well, we're very, very happy to have you.
04:14 We're very honored to have you there and we're not going to try to put you on a horse.
04:18 It'll be the Wallace and Ladmoe edition of the front of those.
04:21 So this Saturday.
04:23 See you there.
04:24 Ho ho ha ha.
04:25 Hee hee.
04:25 Hee hee.
04:25 Hee hee.
04:26 Hee hee.
04:26 Hee hee.
04:27 Hee hee.
04:28 Hee hee.
