00:00 All right, well, have you ever wanted to take a trip to the sky?
00:04 Well, the cool spot right here in the valley allows you to do just that.
00:08 This is Rainbow Riders.
00:09 Take a look.
00:25 So I just came back from one of the most magical experiences I have had here in Arizona.
00:31 And if you are thinking it, you probably guessed it.
00:33 It's a hot air balloon ride.
00:35 I'm standing here with Scott, who is the owner of Rainbow Riders.
00:37 Scott, thank you so much for having us today.
00:39 Oh, you bet.
00:40 Thanks a lot for coming out.
00:41 We appreciate it.
00:42 It's truly magical.
00:43 When I say that word, I'm not overemphasizing.
00:46 I really mean it.
00:47 It is serene and peaceful and just so beautiful to be up in the air like that.
00:51 Tell me a little bit about Rainbow Riders and kind of what sets you guys apart.
00:54 Sure.
00:55 It's really hard to describe a hot air balloon ride until you do it.
00:59 Obviously, you can see that after your flight this morning.
01:02 But you know, Rainbow Riders started about 40 years ago.
01:05 I actually was at the very first balloon event in Albuquerque when I was 12 years old.
01:09 That's how I got started.
01:10 That was my first experience in hot air ballooning.
01:13 When I was finishing up my degree at the university, a good friend of mine had a balloon, taught
01:17 me how to fly.
01:18 I did it recreationally and kind of competed across the nation and then decided to see
01:23 if I could make a go at it.
01:24 We started off with a two-passenger balloon.
01:27 And now today, we sit here with 47 balloons, three different states, 100 employees and
01:33 flying 45,000 people a year.
01:35 So it's been a heck of a ride.
01:36 It sounds like it.
01:37 A heck of a ride is a great way to put it because taking a ride with you guys is such
01:41 an incredible experience.
01:42 So I got to experience it this morning.
01:44 But for those who haven't done it quite yet, tell us what it's like.
01:48 You know, everybody, I swear, 50 to 60 percent of people all say, "Oh, I'm scared of pilots.
01:54 I can't do that," and stuff like that.
01:55 And then two or three minutes into the flight, they're walking around the basket going, "Hey,
01:58 this is kind of cool.
01:59 I like this."
02:00 It is.
02:01 It is.
02:02 So, you know, it's the perception and the reality of the two things are very different.
02:05 It's very smooth.
02:07 Motion sickness is not an issue.
02:10 And then we're floating around.
02:11 We're floating.
02:12 We're truly just floating.
02:13 The only noise that you'll hear is that of the burners.
02:18 You'll hear cars or you'll have people, you know, saying hi to you.
02:21 Standing around you, yep.
02:22 Yep, or people from the ground talking to you and stuff like that.
02:25 I usually find out when the coffee's ready.
02:28 So you know, but just floating.
02:30 You know, we fly the balloon by going to different altitudes.
02:33 There's different directions of wind, different currents, just like what's in a lake, but
02:36 just in the air.
02:37 And that's how we do our flights.
02:40 And I love that you used the word peaceful because it truly is.
02:43 When you are up there, it is such a peaceful experience.
02:46 I felt incredibly safe the entire time I was there.
02:49 And Patrick, our pilot, was so informative.
02:52 He kept us, you know, he kept telling us everything we needed to know the whole time.
02:57 He kept us very well informed.
02:59 And it was peaceful.
03:00 It was calm.
03:01 It was beautiful.
03:02 And I know you were saying earlier that you've grown so much.
03:04 In fact, we're standing in your new facility now here in Glendale.
03:07 Tell us a little bit about this beautiful new facility you have.
03:11 You know, this is, we were in Deer Valley, but the growth up in the North Valley has
03:16 making us change to different flight areas.
03:18 So we've designed and built this building, hopefully learning more and more from every
03:22 time we build or move into a building.
03:24 So we've got about 15,000 square feet, where we have what I call the balloon port in the
03:29 back here.
03:30 We've got a great assembly room, retail shops, nice bathrooms.
03:34 You know, a real place for people to come and meet instead of just meeting in a parking
03:37 lot.
03:38 You know, they come early, they gather, they talk, then they have a little bit of champagne,
03:41 then they have a good time and possibly shop.
03:44 So you know, there's all those types of things going.
03:46 So we're really, really pleased this is going into our second month here in this building.
03:51 You know, we're very, very dedicated to hot air ballooning, very passionate about it.
03:58 Our pilots, our crews, our staff, our administrative and management team.
04:03 And our biggest thing is safety.
04:05 We even have our own in-house pilot training program, so we can bring people up and teach
04:09 them the way that we like seeing it.
04:11 So you know, this is what we feel we bring the best to the people.
04:15 And 40 years, five stars, I'm really, really proud of what we're doing and how we're doing
04:19 it.
04:20 You guys definitely have the reviews to back it up.
04:22 And every single person who was on the flight with us today kept saying this was incredible.
04:27 This was so worth it.
04:28 We had an amazing time.
04:29 So for everybody who wants to book with you guys, tell them where they can find you.
04:33 Great.
04:34 And the best bet is we still have people that answer the phone seven days a week, 14 hours
04:39 a day, and they're welcome to give us a call.
04:42 Of course, they can go to our website at rainbowriders.com and riders is spelled R-Y-D-E-R-S.
04:46 And if you don't want to talk to anybody, you can book the ride online and everything
04:51 too.
04:52 So go on to our website, get you a lot of information, give us a call.
04:55 We'll get your questions answered and we'd love to get you up flying.
04:58 Yes, you're not going to regret it.
05:00 It's an amazing experience.
05:01 Well, Scott, thank you for having us in today.
05:02 It was our pleasure.
05:03 Thanks for coming out and we look forward to the next flight.
05:06 Absolutely.
05:07 Okay.
05:07 Thanks for having us.
05:16 Bye.
05:20 you
