00:00 We have been engaged our year five, our entire year five and our entire year six,
00:04 we've been engaged in a project from September that's called Design for SDGs.
00:08 It's sponsored by BET and basically because our whole curriculum anyway is
00:15 centered around the Sustainable Development Goals, it's really important
00:18 for us to kind of engage in lots of different things like that. So the
00:22 organizers of Design for SDGs chose six of the Sustainable Development Goals
00:27 that they wanted children to follow up on and design ideas to counter, if you
00:32 like. And so all of our year five and six self-organized into groups. We submitted
00:38 in the end six videos, one video for each of the goals and the 14 children that we
00:45 took to London last week were the people who were in the videos that we
00:49 submitted as our final six. One of those final six got chosen to be actual final
00:54 finalists in the thing at BET. So four of those children spoke on stage at BET
00:59 about their idea which was about the climate emergency, about the
01:03 Climate Action Goal which is Sustainable Development Goal 6, I think. We had an
01:06 amazing time. We made a bit of a weekend, although it was midweek, of it and we
01:12 went down on the Tuesday and the most exciting thing was going to Pizza
01:16 Express, obviously, and then we went to see Mamma Mia on Tuesday evening and
01:19 then spent the whole day at BET. The event was at the end of the day and
01:23 it was just an incredible opportunity for the children to listen to other
01:26 young people speaking the ideas of really effective other young people from
01:30 across the country and then our four at the end, you know, I think it felt like
01:35 there was 14 on because the 10 sat down, we were as involved as the four actually on
01:38 stage and, you know, so confident. You'll have heard them speak. They're so confident and
01:43 so, not just confident speakers, but so knowledgeable and what they talk about
01:48 is really powerful as well. You could plant a tree in your garden to give more
01:55 oxygen and give animals a habitat to live in. You can go around places
02:02 that don't really have much trees and you can plant them which will prevent
02:06 soil erosion and then whenever you want to plant vegetables or
02:12 something, it'll grow fine. On the way to school you could pick up litter with like
02:17 a little picker or something and this will help the environment and reduce
02:23 pollution. If you like leaving the classroom or your house you can turn the
02:28 lights off to save energy. If possible, reuse things and recycle and in the
02:33 daytime do not turn on your lights because you've already got the light
02:39 from the Sun and it's just wasting electricity. Local schools or maybe even
02:45 schools in the country have like a walk to school day. It could help by
02:51 lowering the carbon emission and if people are using the app that we came up
02:58 with, it could help because people will be planting trees and
03:03 just saving the environment. Stop using cars and use bikes or like a scooter.
03:10 To go to school, they'll go to a park somewhere so the stuff that
03:17 comes out of the car when you drive doesn't... because I've heard that it breaks the ice
03:23 in Antarctica where lots of snow animals live and I don't want that to happen
03:29 because our planet might get took over by water instead of land so it might be
03:34 like coming to a water planet so I'm thinking stop using cars and use bikes instead.
