00:00 A transport group appealed to the camera,

00:03 who is having a hard time getting his jeepney registered.

00:07 They are making a requirement to consolidate the vehicle,

00:11 which was denied by the LTFRB.

00:14 Joseph Moro was on the scene.

00:15 According to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board or LTFRB,

00:23 more than 20,000 jeepneys are not registered

00:26 or possibly are just color rooms in Metro Manila.

00:29 But because of the extension given by the President,

00:32 along with the consolidation,

00:34 until April 30,

00:35 there's a chance for the jeepneys to be registered.

00:38 The problem is,

00:38 according to the Manibela group,

00:40 they are having a hard time getting their jeepney registered

00:42 because the requirement is being made

00:44 that they should be consolidated,

00:45 which is what they are being told.

00:47 When the House Committee on Transportation heard this,

00:50 the LTFRB changed its mind.

00:52 We are not requiring any application for consolidation

00:56 before we confirm them

00:58 because the President said that we will extend it until April 30.

01:03 But the LTFRB insisted that the time for registration

01:06 should be consolidated under the PUV Modernization Program.

01:10 However, according to the Piston and Manibela,

01:12 who are in favor of consolidation,

01:14 we will not join the consolidation

01:17 because we saw the loopholes here.

01:20 Some congressmen said that the extension will not solve

01:23 the real problems of the PUV Modernization Program

01:26 such as the lack of a Route Rationalization Plan

01:29 and its violation of the right to life under the Constitution.

01:33 The LTFRB is reviewing the program.

01:36 They are suggesting for the DOTR

01:39 to seriously consider the requirement of industry consolidation.

01:44 That is what we're doing now.

01:45 The Piston and Manibela are hoping that the resolution will be released by the Camera

01:49 to suspend the PUV Modernization Program

01:53 like the resolution that extended the deadline for consolidation.

01:57 We are hoping that the House has the right to propose a House bill

02:04 to suspend the program.
