00:00 >> Most we've seen you scramble in some ways,
00:02 does that kind of define who you are as a player?
00:06 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously my job is to distribute the ball to guys that are open.
00:11 And then if something's not there, especially in this kind of game,
00:15 it's like you gotta find a way.
00:16 So I feel like throughout my life I've scrambled and stuff here and there.
00:20 But since I've been here, I feel like I haven't done a whole lot.
00:25 But obviously tonight, someone there, I was just trying to keep the chains moving,
00:29 keep the ball moving forward.
00:30 And then obviously give our team some momentum and some juice.
00:33 So I had to do it, so I did it, and yeah.
00:38 >> What was your view of the Brandon catch and how it all unfolded?
00:43 And what did that do for you guys, just in terms of the jolt?
00:46 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously to have an explosive play like that was huge.
00:50 In that moment, we needed it to get down the field pretty quick.
00:53 And we were still down, I think, two touchdowns.
00:55 So in that moment, it was all right, here's a shot,
00:59 here's an opportunity for BA.
01:00 It was a single high, safety, didn't get back or anything.
01:03 He sort of stayed flat footed.
01:05 And in our offense, in that play, it's like, all right,
01:07 you can expect your receiver to get on top and trust him.
01:11 And so the corner did a good job with actually staying on top and
01:14 then tipped it up.
01:15 BA did a great job with just tracking the ball all the way and
01:18 then making a huge play for us, man.
01:20 So he's a baller, that was clutch on his part.
01:22 >> What was the team when you were down 17, when you were down by so much?
01:27 >> I mean, yeah, no one was rah-rah, no one was freaking out.
01:30 It was just, it's football.
01:32 I feel like there's a lot of experienced guys on this team,
01:35 veterans that have been in crazy situations.
01:37 And so everyone was like, we just gotta do our job straight up.
01:40 Like the offense has to move the ball, we gotta put up points,
01:43 convert on third downs, defense, get some stops for us.
01:47 And that was really about it.
01:47 There wasn't really much said.
01:48 Kyle said a couple things, Fred said a couple things, but we kept it simple.
01:52 And so went out, we all knew what we had to do.
01:54 Ceden's on the line, we're down 17.
01:56 So I think everybody stepped up and
01:58 we played really good complimentary team football from there.
02:02 >> That could have been obviously an interception to BA.
02:06 Do you consider the fine line of like, dude pretty through a horrible pass and
02:12 no pretty through this pass that changed the game?
02:15 >> Yeah, I mean, in that moment I'm looking at it like, we need a play.
02:19 I'm not gonna be stupid and just throw the ball up, but BA is one on one.
02:23 So I'm gonna take that up, especially in this kind of game.
02:26 We need that kind of play.
02:27 Yeah, so people can say what they want, but I was getting my guy shot and
02:31 it worked out.
02:32 >> How much of the year people have said- >> Last week, this week,
02:35 you guys seem to do well with your backs against the wall.
02:38 What does that say about the resiliency?
02:40 >> Yeah, I mean, it's just the character, man.
02:41 The love, the brotherhood, it's real.
02:44 It's the NFL, I guess you could say it's a business, but guys care about each other
02:47 in this locker room and what we've been through.
02:49 And we got a core group of guys that have been here for
02:52 the last couple years and the standard and culture that they've built.
02:55 And then the guys that Kyle and John brings in, everyone fits that mold.
02:59 And it showed tonight in a huge moment, if you're down 17,
03:02 you gotta care about each other, you gotta love each other to get a comeback going.
03:06 And so I think we showed that tonight and I'm really proud of this group.
03:10 >> What happened on the interception?
03:11 >> Yeah, I stepped up.
03:13 It wasn't the look that we really thought we were gonna get.
03:16 I went to try to rip one to Debo over the middle.
03:21 From what I can remember, there's a hand that hit my hand and
03:23 the ball got tipped and flirted up to the linebacker.
03:26 >> What did it feel like in that moment when you're out there celebrating with
03:30 your teammates when the clock hit zero?
03:32 >> Yeah, it's huge.
03:33 Obviously, just the feeling of redemption, coming back.
03:37 It's huge, man.
03:39 And for all of us, what we went through, I guess, last year,
03:42 this whole year has been crazy.
03:43 You go through highs, you go through lows.
03:44 And even in this game, the season's on the line, you're down 17.
03:48 And then to see the clock hit zero and you're up is special to all of us.
03:53 And so obviously, we have one more job to not finish, but
03:55 I can't tell you guys how proud I am of the team to fight.
04:00 >> Well, did you feel the momentum start to shift when they went for
04:03 it on fourth and two and didn't make it?
04:05 And can you just talk about kind of feeling the feel in the stadium?
04:09 >> Yeah, I mean, you could definitely feel it.
04:10 Everybody knew we were all trying to get back into it.
04:13 And so when the defense got a stop like that, obviously, the stadium erupted and
04:17 then everyone on offense, when we're jogging out there, we're like, all right,
04:20 it's our time.
04:21 This is the momentum that we've been looking for.
04:24 Our team created that as a whole.
04:26 And so as an offense, we gotta do our part and
04:29 pick up the defense after they just got that stop.
04:31 So we all felt it.
04:32 >> But the way your season ended last year, what's it like to be able to come out and
04:38 perform like you did in an NFC Championship game?
04:42 >> Yeah, I mean, honestly, this was just like the next game up.
04:46 You look back a year ago, got hurt, which sucked, and
04:48 then you go through the whole rehab process.
04:50 All of it, it's been a long year, but at the same time, it's been pretty quick.
04:53 And so for me, I just try to enjoy every single day, enjoy these guys,
04:57 enjoy the wins, enjoy, honestly, the lows that come with it.
05:00 You gotta learn from that kind of stuff.
05:02 And obviously, to pull a comeback like that in the NFC Championship and
05:06 play, it was special for me.
05:09 So like I said, we still got one more to go, but
05:12 to have a performance like that, like we did as a team, it was huge.
05:15 We're always gonna remember that.
05:17 >> What are your thoughts on the Chiefs facing Patrick Mahomes?
05:20 >> Yeah, I mean, what a challenge.
05:21 You got Mahomes and what he does and their team, they're special, man.
05:25 They're winners.
05:27 They've proven that over however many years he's been there.
05:31 So for us to be able to go back and play him is gonna be sweet.
05:34 It's gonna be special for all of us.
05:35 And I wasn't here, obviously, in 19, but you can just tell the guys
05:40 that have been here, if anybody, it'd be special for them to play these guys.
05:44 So I'm excited to be a part of it.
05:46 >> On the throw to IU, there was a flag there.
05:50 He made this diving catch.
05:51 Did you immediately know that's a catch?
05:53 >> I'm sorry, on what play?
05:54 >> The throw to IU, the deep throw to IU.
05:56 There was a flag and I was like, did he catch it?
05:59 I mean, did you immediately know that's a catch?
06:02 Or was there some confusion on your part?
06:04 >> Yeah, I saw the flag go up, for sure.
06:06 But and then I heard the whole stadium erupt and
06:09 I see BA curled up around the ball and I was like, my gosh, he caught that?
06:13 So after that, we're all jogging down, I'm like, dang.
06:16 And then we're all trying to figure out if he scored or not and got touched.
06:19 So, but when I saw him catch that, I was like, that's insane.
06:23 So at the end of the day, I was like, just like I said, trying to give him an op, man.
06:27 It's one on one, huge game.
06:29 We need a big play and explosive.
06:30 Here's one of our best receiver to go down and make a clutch play for us.
06:34 So, yeah.
06:35 >> How did your personal journey over the last couple years get you ready for
06:39 not only this game, but the second half in particular?
06:43 I mean, you come from relative nowhere to be now the third youngest
06:48 quarterback to ever start a Super Bowl game.
06:51 How did that journey get you ready for this game?
06:55 >> Yeah, honestly, I think it's just a testament to God and
06:59 where he's taken me in life.
07:00 I've never been the biggest, the fastest, the strongest, or any of that.
07:04 I feel like I've always sort of had to fight for what I get and work for
07:08 what I get.
07:10 But God's always given me an opportunity, whether that was in high school, college,
07:14 and then obviously in the NFL.
07:15 Getting drafted last, people over looking and all that kind of stuff, and
07:18 then all you need is an opportunity and when watching, see what he does.
07:21 I put my faith and trust in him and he's gotten me where I'm at.
07:24 So when I'm down 17 at half, honestly, I'm just thinking, all right, God,
07:29 you've taken me here and win or lose, I'm gonna glorify you.
07:33 And that's my piece, that's the joy, that's the steadfastness,
07:36 that's where I get it from, and that's the honest truth.
07:38 So I leaned into that, and sure enough, we were able to come back.
07:42 >> All right, thank you guys.
