Did the Alabama crowd take things too far on Wednesday
Transcript
00:00 - Yeah, this had known you by any means,
00:02 but Alabama basketball gets sort of a bad reputation
00:07 for its crowd, like after the other night
00:09 with the "Fuck you, Auburn" chant.
00:12 And I wonder if, it's not your job, I understand,
00:16 but I wonder if you think there's any solution to that
00:19 or does it matter?
00:21 - I didn't hear that.
00:25 I wasn't aware of that.
00:28 I mean, look, I want the crowd.
00:29 I think what makes college basketball, college basketball
00:33 is you get the age group that we've got as college students
00:37 and they bring a certain energy to the game.
00:41 You know, my assistant coach Pinone was in the NBA
00:45 and he keeps commenting on how great the crowds are,
00:49 not being disrespectful.
00:52 I do not condone any type of disrespect at all,
00:56 but I didn't hear that.
00:59 I wasn't aware of it.
01:00 We want our crowd to be super loud.
01:04 You know, we want them to do it with class.
01:07 We want them to support us, give us energy.
01:12 And I'll say this, we play in some really tough
01:16 road environments in the SEC.
01:19 Think about when we go to Auburn
01:21 and when we go to some places, it's, yeah,
01:24 it'd be nice if everybody's crowd,
01:26 particularly ours, who we have more control over,
01:30 was super loud, super energetic,
01:33 and very respectful in their cheers.
01:35 But I'm not sure I got a whole lot of control over
01:38 what exactly is being said,
01:41 nor am I aware of what's being said most of the time.
01:43 I don't, I've learned a long time ago to tune the crowd out
01:47 and try to focus on what the game is.
01:48 If I hear, I don't think I want to hear
01:50 what they're saying about me on the road all the time.
