00:00 Hi everyone, it's Rachel at The Leader here. So as you may have heard earlier this week,
00:04 the World Knife and Axe Throwing Championships are going to be held here in Louth later this
00:08 year in the summer and they're going to be held here at Back to Bear which is up near
00:12 Kenwick Park. So I've come here today to have a go at axe and knife throwing to see what
00:16 it's all about. But before I do, we're going to let Spencer here, who's the main man here
00:21 at Back to Bear, show you how it's really done and then I'm going to have a go.
00:25 So that's how it's really done. That was done with proper throwing knives. I've been given
00:36 these, which are the Angels, which are for absolute beginners to practice with. Now,
00:42 Spencer's also going to talk me through the technique because it's got to be done properly.
00:47 And obviously, disclaimer, kids don't try this at home. It should only be done somewhere
00:51 like here with professionals. Remember, your hand finishes where you want to throw.
00:58 Not like that. Look a little bit higher.
01:02 I did well in practice.
01:09 I got one. I got one.
01:14 I'll have one more go just to prove I did it better than previous takes.
01:18 So you always take your knives from the top in case they fall and bonk you on the head
01:22 when you're picking them up.
01:24 I'm going to do it properly this time.
01:29 So just step back a little bit, a tiny little bit, that's it.
01:31 Oh, nearly. So close.
01:36 So remember, that thumb needs to be round the side, that's it.
01:39 Like that? Yep.
01:41 That's a good one, well done.
01:44 It's harder than it looks, trust me.
01:47 Nice, well done.
01:49 There we go. See, as I said, not as easy as it looks.
01:52 Oh wow.
02:04 That's the pendulum.
02:08 That's the pendulum.
