Buyers are willing to pay 10 per cent more for homes with eco-upgrades, according to a study.
A poll of 1,400 homeowners found 69 per cent want to ensure their next property will be firing on all cylinders when it comes to sustainability.
With solar panels (36 per cent), EV charging points (25 per cent), and heat pumps (18 per cent) among the most sought after.
But many homes are currently undergoing ‘greenovation’, as 58 per cent want to save money in the short term, with 64 per cent hoping it will lead to a bigger valuation down the line, according to research commissioned by Smart Energy GB.
TV presenter and property expert Scarlette Douglas, who has visited some of Britain’s unique eco-homes, said: “I really enjoyed having the opportunity to uncover how Brits are greenifying their homes.
“From solar-powered lighting to rainwater recycling, it’s cool to see the new and quirky eco-elements people are adding to their homes.
“The financial benefits people see with the help of a smart meter are clear, too."
