Nate Oats compliments Rylan Griffen's leadership
Transcript
00:00 >> Grant said that Rylan sternly challenged him on the bench during the game.
00:04 In your course of winning championships over the year, how important is that to
00:08 the DNA of the team to have the players challenging each other,
00:11 coaching themselves up on the bench?
00:14 >> The best teams I've ever coached are player coach teams, to be honest with you.
00:19 I mean, we give them some direction, put them in the right system, but
00:22 that stuff, the best teams you have, that stuff comes from the players.
00:27 So it was great that Rylan stepped up.
00:28 I basically told Grant, we need you to play tough, you're good enough,
00:33 we need you to step it up.
00:35 He stepped it up.
00:36 After the game, Grant got on the ground, kind of raised his hand, and
00:39 coach let me say something.
00:40 He said, look, Grant, way to step it up.
00:42 After I checked, we've been talking about this, we need some leadership.
00:45 We need some guys to play so hard every possession that when somebody else
00:50 isn't playing hard, they don't fit in.
00:53 And then you challenge them and they need to fit in with how hard we play.
00:57 I thought Tilly was a big step in that, and
00:59 Rylan's been playing pretty hard on defense.
01:05 He was really locked in today, both sides of the ball.
01:07 >> Grant.
