00:00 President Bongbong Marcos made a positive step for China

00:05 when it came to the position of the Philippines in Taiwan and the "One China Policy".

00:10 It is well known that Beijing welcomed President Marcos' visit to Taiwan President-elect Lai Ching-de.

00:16 But in an interview, the President said that he did it as a common courtesy

00:20 and that the "One China Policy" of the country is still in force.

00:24 It means that Taiwan is still a part of China for the Philippines.

00:28 President Marcos reiterating "One China Policy"

00:34 and emphasizing that Taiwan is a province of China

00:39 and the Philippines is not endorsing Taiwan independence.

00:44 But for Taipei, it is clear that China is pressuring the Philippines to reduce the number of incidents.

00:51 Meanwhile, the Chinese ambassador did not directly answer

00:55 the Chinese Coast Guard's harassment of the Filipino fishermen in Scarborough Shoal.

01:00 But the Chinese envoy insisted that the Philippines should be concerned

01:03 about the agreement between the two countries, the tensions in the West Philippine Sea.

01:09 We expect that both sides will meet in half way

01:13 to handle the defenses in a proper manner to de-escalate the tension.

01:19 This Tuesday, Defense Secretary Gibutio Doro continued to harass the West Philippine Sea.

01:26 He insisted that the country should also strengthen cooperation with other allied countries.

01:31 We will increase the tempo of our activities with allies and other major partners,

01:39 not only in the West Philippine Sea.

01:41 We will exercise these partnerships to the full

01:45 and it is within our unquestionable right to do so.

01:49 But the Chinese ambassador insisted...

01:52 We need to follow the guidance of the President instead of any officials.

01:56 The Philippines has already held 71 diplomatic protests against China under the Marcos administration.

02:03 Four of these were held this year due to various incidents in the West Philippine Sea.
