00:03 Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte promised

00:07 that one of the goals is the empowerment of teachers.

00:10 In her Basic Education Report 2024,

00:13 she promised that she will find a way to give teachers

00:17 teaching overload and overtime pay.

00:20 In the next budget cycle,

00:22 DepEd will be proposing a budget that will enable us

00:25 to grant overtime pay to our teachers.

00:29 Calamity Fund will also be created to provide

00:32 urgent assistance to teachers affected by calamity.

00:35 DepEd will also issue a budget order

00:39 to increase the number of staff in schools

00:42 to reduce the administrative tasks of teachers.

00:45 Aside from teacher welfare,

00:46 interconnectivity is also a priority in schools.

00:49 Based on the agency's data,

00:51 67% of public schools have Wi-Fi,

00:55 but it is limited to faculty rooms.

00:58 We have initiated talks with Converge,

01:00 PLDT, Globe Starlink, and other internet providers

01:04 with the aim of providing adequate internet access

01:08 to both teachers and learners in our schools.

01:11 A so-called "stable portal" will be set up,

01:14 a one-stop shop for digital learning resources

01:20 President Bongbong Marcos also expressed support

01:23 for the reforms implemented by DepEd.
