00:00 According to a recent study that you and your colleagues did over at LinkedIn, 85% of U.S.
00:05 workers are looking to switch roles, switch jobs entirely here in this new year 2024.
00:10 Why are we seeing that kind of shift?
00:13 Listen, 85% are considering the new opportunity in the new year.
00:18 Part of that is just because people have been sheltering in place for the last two years.
00:21 We've seen so much economic uncertainty.
00:23 We've come out of the pandemic.
00:25 But people are really saying to themselves, one, I feel underpaid, two, I feel like this
00:30 is a good time to move.
00:32 Is there ever a good time to move?
00:34 Now is go time.
00:35 And so that's what we're seeing.
00:36 And I think that all of the uncertainty in the market in terms of the economy has not
00:41 deterred people from wanting to take that next step.
00:43 Here's the deal, though.
00:45 It's going to be incredibly competitive.
00:47 JD, if I were sitting here with you 12 months ago, right, last year at the same time, there
00:52 were two openings for every applicant on LinkedIn.
00:56 Today, there are two applicants for every opening.
00:58 Wow, we've reversed that.
00:59 We've reversed it.
01:00 Total reversal of fortune in terms of how competitive the landscape is right now.
01:04 But there's some really good opportunities out there.
01:07 What I say to people is that you don't have to work twice as hard to get that role, but
01:11 you've got to be twice as strategic.
01:12 You've got to use everything in that toolkit to get that opportunity.
01:15 Thank you.
