00:00 Hi guys and welcome to DriveSpark, I'm Prameet and today we are in Bangalore testing this.
00:10 Now this is the all new Tata Punch.EV and before we start this video, let me tell you
00:16 the pricing of this vehicle.
00:17 So this vehicle was just launched at a price of Rs. 10.99 lakh, to be precise, 11 lakh
00:22 rupees ex-showroom and it goes all the way up to the 15.5 lakh rupee mark.
00:27 Again, these prices are ex-showroom.
00:29 So let's quickly start this video and I'll tell you everything you need to know about
00:32 this electric vehicle.
00:34 So let's start off with the front design of the car.
00:46 Now the very first thing you notice that this EV is actually based on the regular ICE Punch
00:52 that is already there in the market.
00:54 So what's new over here, first of all, you can see you get a completely redesigned bumper
00:58 and also you have this DRL that obviously connects, it connects in the middle, this
01:04 is the charging socket, you have the logo now, this is the new logo for the EVs I think
01:09 in the Tata lineup.
01:10 So you can see that the logo is finished in black and this is white.
01:14 It does not glow, but yeah, I mean, sort of the chrome logo was looking kind of nice,
01:19 but anyway, this is a nice touch that they have added.
01:22 Also you can see over here, you get a front parking camera.
01:24 So again, this is a part of the 360 degree camera feature and again, hood lines and fuses
01:29 are a little sharp over here, but you also get some storage space underneath the trunk
01:34 that's a frunk.
01:35 So it's basically a 12-litre storage space where you can keep, I think, one handbag or
01:39 if you want to keep the charger of the car, you can also store it there.
01:44 And as far as the lighting setup goes, you can see over here, so you have a single projector
01:48 for the high and low beam and this is your cornering light and your fog lights as well.
01:53 So the complete setup is an LED setup and actually the car looks really nice from the
01:57 front, especially because the bumper has been tweaked.
01:59 Now moving on to the side profile, when you go to the side, you will see that you have
02:03 a dot EV written on the side door and you have body cladding all over, again, you get
02:09 the 16-inch dual-tone five-spoke alloy wheels.
02:12 Now the tyre profile is 195/60 R16.
02:15 So I would like to say that this car is available in five colour options.
02:19 Now all the colours are dual-tone where you'll get the body colour and you'll get the roof
02:24 in black.
02:25 So the pillars, as you can see, from front to the back is finished in black.
02:29 You get blacked out ORVMs, again, you get a camera underneath the ORVM, part of the
02:33 360-degree camera feature, you get your LED DRLs, you do not get any chrome on the side
02:39 whatsoever, you get roof rails that are kind of functional, you can attach something on
02:43 top of it.
02:44 You also have a sunroof, a shark fin antenna, and you can see that the body cladding, I
02:49 mean, there is a huge part of the door that is finished in this plastic cladding.
02:54 Looks nice, looks neat, again, you have 190 mm of ground clearance, so ground clearance
02:58 is pretty decent, you will not bottom out on anything, bad roads or even on speed breakers.
03:04 And now let's move on to the rear section.
03:06 So if you come to the rear section, you will first of all notice that this taillight is
03:09 completely wrapped around, it's an LED taillight.
03:12 So the taillight, as you can see, it's a mix and match of this red and this smoky effect.
03:18 You also have your Punch.EV written over here, that is finished in black and not in chrome,
03:23 same logo, camera over here, parking sensors, again, you have your skid plates finished
03:29 in this silver, wiper with a washer, defoggers and a high stoplight.
03:34 You do not get a spoiler, but yeah, I mean, this part is, kind of looks like a spoiler,
03:38 but if this would have come out a little bit, it would have given a much more sportier look
03:43 to this car.
03:44 Now talking about the boot, so to open the boot, you can either open from your key or
03:48 from the inside or from the request sensor over here.
03:52 So boot opens up thanks to the hydraulic struts, you have a 366-litre boot space, you do not
03:58 get a 60/40 split whatsoever, if you want to fold down the second row, you'll have to
04:02 completely fold it down because obviously there is no split, but you have decent amount
04:06 of boot space, 366-litre, that will accommodate at least four cabin bags or, I mean, you can
04:12 mix and match with a handbag or cabin bag or whatever you want to keep and close the
04:16 boot, I mean, the boot is a little heavy to close, but it shuts comfortably.
04:21 So now let's go on the inside and I'll tell you what do you get on the interiors of the
04:25 all-new Punch EV.
04:36 So now let us sit at the rear seat where there is a little less space as you can see over
04:42 here, so we are at the rear seat of the Punch EV and as you can see, my legs are touching,
04:47 for reference, I'm 6'1", this seat has been adjusted according to my height and I am not
04:53 at all comfortable sitting at the rear section of this car, I mean, I don't know, there is
04:57 decent under-thigh support, but legroom and knee room is just, you can see over here,
05:01 it's just brushing all, so you will not be comfortable sitting with your legs slightly
05:05 closed, you will have to open them like this and sit, two people are comfortable, three
05:09 people will be cramped, you have two adjustable headrests, you again have a center armrest,
05:14 but cup holders and everything is missing over here, if you don't want it, you can just
05:19 fold it up, you just get a space to keep your phone or your wallet and you get your magazine
05:23 holder that will, I don't know, that will fit a magazine or not, because again, it's
05:27 a very small holder as you can see from the size of my hand, so yeah, I mean, there is
05:32 very less space at the rear, but let's go to the front and let's check that out.
05:36 Okay, so now we are at the front seat of the Tata Punch and if you just see around, you
05:46 will see that, I mean, everything, the fit and finish quality is nice, again, everything
05:50 is hard plastic over here, it's a mix and match of, I think, white and black and matte
05:57 black, so let's talk about the seat first, so you can see over here, you have ventilated
06:00 seat option, the button is over here, you get ventilated seats, not heated seats, but
06:04 you get ventilated seats, seats are very comfortable, the front seats, also you get six airbags,
06:09 I'll talk about that when I'm driving the car, but yeah, you get six airbags standard
06:13 across, over here around the AC vents, you can see, you get this slight brushed aluminium
06:19 kind of finish, you get a 10.25-inch screen over here, a 10.25-inch screen over there
06:24 and you also get this illuminated logo that Tata offers with the car, so once the car
06:29 is on, the logo will glow, steering mounted controls over here, two-spoke steering wheel,
06:33 flat bottom steering wheel, very comfortable steering wheel, but steering wheel only has
06:37 tilt option, it does not have a telescopic option, that's a really sad thing because,
06:43 I mean, finding the right driving position is very difficult without a telescopic steering
06:48 wheel adjustment, again, you have this panel over here, it's a touch panel to basically
06:52 control your AC and a lot of other features like 360-degree camera feature, you can open
06:56 the charging socket that's right in the front, where the front logo is, so you can open it
07:02 from here and you have cubby holes over here, you've got a type A, you've got a type C,
07:07 you've got a 12-volt charging socket, this is your dial, now if you see the dial, this
07:13 is your digital dial, so there's PRND written, whatever you want to select, you can rotate
07:18 the dial and select it from here, your bottle holders, again, I think this will only fit
07:23 a half-litre bottle, some storage space for your key and this is again a cubby hole that
07:28 does not have much space, so yeah, I mean, there is storage space, a lot of storage space
07:33 in this car, but, I mean, it's very restricted, so yeah guys, this was the interior, so now
07:40 let's go drive the car and I'll tell you how is the all-new Punch EV to drive on the road.
07:45 So guys, we're at the driving seat of the all-new Tata Punch EV and since this is an
07:58 electric vehicle, let me just start off with the motor specs, obviously, this does not
08:03 have an engine, so as far as the motor specs goes, this car is available in two variants,
08:08 one is the regular Tata Punch EV and one is the Punch EV, LR stands for the long range,
08:13 now let's talk about the motor first, so the motor that you get in this particular vehicle
08:18 that we are driving is the LR and the motor that you get is a 90kWh motor and that motor
08:23 produces around 190nm of peak torque, now the torque level is really nice and since it's an
08:29 EV vehicle, so what happens is that, I mean, there is instant acceleration, you don't have
08:35 any mechanical losses, so I mean, the pickup is really, really nice and you have three modes
08:40 with it, you have, when you switch on the car, it'll be in a regular city mode and then you
08:45 have two buttons over here, one is the sport mode and the other one is your eco, so on eco,
08:51 obviously, throttle control will be a little laggy, will be a little less, city mode is nice,
08:56 sport mode is absolutely a different world, I mean, see right now, I am switching to eco,
09:02 so I've put eco mode and let me just floor it, so I have floored it and it gradually,
09:09 it's got a linear acceleration, now let me put sport, same speed and let me floor it,
09:14 there you can see, you have a pushback and after the pushback, the car actually just keeps on going,
09:22 we've not checked the top speed yet, but yeah, definitely, we touched 130-135, so maybe with
09:29 the top speed must be around 150 or something must be electronically limited, so the top speed
09:34 will be slightly, I mean, it will be electronically locked and once again, let me tell you another
09:42 important thing that is there, since it's an EV, that the charging time that it takes, now you get
09:48 three options, you get a standard charger with this, the standard charger is a 3.3 kilowatt charger
09:53 and that takes around 13.5 to 14 hours to charge your car completely from 10 to 100%, you have an
10:00 additional wall box mount that you can opt for and with that mount, you can reduce the charging
10:08 by say around 5 to 6 hours and that thing is basically your 10 to 80% again and last but not
10:15 least, you have your DC fast charging, yeah, I mean, it says that it will charge the car from 10 to 80%
10:22 in 56 seconds, that's just under an hour, so yes, I mean, these are the charging facilities that you
10:28 get with this particular car. So now comes the part where I tell you how much does it go on a
10:33 full charge, again, one of the major questions from an EV, so on a full charge, I mean, the short range
10:40 one, I mean, the regular punch EV will go, its claimed range around 315 and the LR, that's the
10:47 long range one that we are driving today, the claimed range is around 421. Now, the real world range,
10:54 obviously, we cannot test today because we are testing the cars, so I'm assuming that the real
10:58 world range will be close to around 300, which is not at all bad and so yeah, that was the full,
11:05 your charging, your electric motor and the range that you get with this. So another major thing is
11:11 that this thing gets an arcade.ev, so it's an app where you basically can play games and watch videos
11:19 and from YouTube and a lot of other apps, so that can only work when the car is stationary,
11:24 so yeah, that was one missing point. Now, coming back to the driving thing, so the suspension
11:29 is slightly on the stiffer side, I mean, it has been tuned accordingly because obviously,
11:33 you have the battery pack underneath, so it has been tuned according to the weight
11:38 and the suspension feels very well balanced, it gives you best of both worlds, but I mean, yeah,
11:43 it takes over speed bumps and potholes, I mean, nicely and plus, as I mentioned, you have 190mm
11:49 ground clearance, so that should not be a problem. Now, talking about the steering wheel, steering wheel is
11:54 slightly on the stiffer side, is what I personally like and the steering wheel does not change when
11:58 you change the mode, on Eco, it is not like it becomes a little light or on Sport mode, it becomes
12:05 a little heavy, so yeah, steering wheel is nice and you only have a tilt option, you don't get a telescopic
12:10 option, however, you get paddle shifters over here, now the paddle shifters are for the region mode
12:16 of this, so you have basically four regions, where you have zero region, that's one mode, then you
12:21 have level one, level two and level three, so level one is the least and level three is where you can
12:27 do a single pedal driving, you don't need to put your foot on the brake all the time because
12:32 obviously, because of the region, the car will stop on its own and obviously, the battery will be charged
12:37 a little bit as you travel. Another thing about the braking, so braking is nice, this particular
12:44 model has discs on all four ends and that is obviously because of the region also, you have
12:49 disc brakes, but in general, the disc brakes are really, really nice and the car really stops when
12:56 you want it to stop immediately, also, let's talk about safety, first and foremost, the punch, the
13:02 regular IC engine punch, it actually got around five star rating in the Global NCAP and will
13:10 also receive around five star rating, you have ABS, you have hill descent, you have traction control,
13:17 you have six airbags as standard, so yeah, I mean, safety wise, this car is very, very safe, Tata
13:24 obviously has created a benchmark as far as safety goes in their vehicles, so yeah, so apart from this
13:32 guys, I mean, it's a pretty good vehicle, there is a little less space at the back for passengers,
13:38 but the front section is really nice and overall, it's a very good car, so if you're looking for
13:44 an EV that has got a range of somewhere around, say around 300 or maybe if you want a lesser
13:49 version, maybe 250 kilometres on a full charge, with loaded features, with everything, including
13:56 a sunroof as well, so you should go definitely check out the all-new Tata Punch EV.
14:03 So yeah guys, this was the all-new Tata Punch.EV and let me tell you the pricing of this vehicle
14:08 once again, so this vehicle is priced at Rs. 10.99 lakh to 15.5 lakh ex-showroom and once again,
14:17 this has five colour options and this has around 20 variants with a mix and match of everything
14:22 that you can get, yes, you heard me right, it has got 20 variants and five colour options and yeah,
14:28 this is the car, so if you need to know anything else about this electric vehicle, please hit us
14:32 in the comment section and we will get back to you on that, until then, if you have liked this
