00:00 The Queensland Premier Stephen Miles has announced a parliamentary inquiry into grocery prices
00:07 here in Queensland.
00:09 This follows meetings that the Premier had with Coles, Woolworths and also Aldi.
00:15 He met with executives yesterday.
00:17 He says those meetings were productive and the plan is that they will participate in
00:23 this parliamentary inquiry.
00:25 One of the ways that the companies will participate in this is by sharing more information with
00:33 the Queensland Government and the Queensland Government plans to make that available to
00:36 the public as well.
00:38 Part of it will be about how they just come to the conclusion of how certain fruit and
00:42 vegetables are priced in the supermarket, what analysis is done, what information are
00:47 they using to come to those conclusions.
00:51 The Premier Stephen Miles says he has met with farmers across the state of Queensland
00:56 and they've told him harrowing stories about what they're going through at the moment,
01:01 just not getting the prices they need for what they're growing on their farms.
01:05 Some are thinking about just walking away from farming altogether.
