Customers say they have little options to shop around for supermarket options as Coles and Woolworths come under fire
Transcript
00:00Well it's a bad week to be a supermarket in Australia. First the ACCC has
00:04come out and launched legal action against Coles and Woolworths alleging
00:08they misled customers on their discount pricing strategies. Now Choice has come
00:12out with a report saying Aldi is far cheaper than Coles and Woolworths on a
00:16standard basket of groceries. Customers are understandably pretty ticked off.
00:21And those down down prices are just, you look at the price it's not
00:27down down it's just the same price they just put a sticker on it it's it's just
00:32a manipulation. I think they're earning a lot of money and they're earning it off
00:37the backs of you know people's hard work. I shopped at Aldi today because I don't
00:44like Coles and Woolworths. Despite their feelings about the major supermarkets
00:48many shoppers say they're unlikely to change their behavior as a result of the
00:52latest findings. They say there's little competition when it comes to shopping
00:56around. I think it also has to do with convenience you know it's it's a lot
01:01ideally I'd love to do the whole go to the market you know go to the markets
01:06and shop at the fresh fruit markets but it's it's just not easy for me to do
01:11that it's really easy for me to pull up and park here and go to one place. We
01:15don't really have a choice because we've got Aldi, Coles and Woolworths and that's
01:19about it unless and you go to IGA and it's even more expensive so yeah.
01:26you
