00:00 Let's talk about quarterback Dak Prescott. Coach Mike McCarthy says he has full belief in Dak, says that he thinks he is a part of the solution here in Dallas for the Cowboys who suffer another early playoff loss.
00:13 What do you think happens here with Dak going forward?
00:16 First of all, there's two separate Dak seasons that happened.
00:19 That's so true.
00:20 I've seen many people say, "Well, how can you possibly? This is so disrespectful to an MVP candidate."
00:26 But the MVP is the regular season. This is a new season.
00:30 And in this new season, he led the team in playing poorly.
00:35 And by the way, you can skip over the three touchdowns and the 400 yards. It couldn't have been more insignificant.
00:41 And he knows that. He'll be the first to tell you he wasn't padding his stats to look good, but that's just fat stuck into a box score.
00:48 That's immaterial to what really happened in that game.
00:51 Coach McCarthy said he watched the game back that Sunday night and that he felt they were moving too fast, maybe trying to push those big plays a little bit too hard.
01:00 Okay, and maybe that's a certain level of anxiety on the coach, on the part of the quarterback.
01:05 And of course, you get behind 27-0, you tend to get a little anxious.
01:10 The issue with Dak right now isn't about what he did or didn't do on the field.
01:14 The issue now is what you do with him contractually.
01:17 There's a $59 million cap hit on March 13th. That's it. That's the opening of the NFL business year.
01:28 The original plan was we're going to do something about that by having Dak get an extension that might make him the highest paid player in the history of football.
01:35 That still seems like the wisest plan because it's really difficult to do business if you've got one guy with a $60 million cap hit.
01:44 But on Saturday, it was 100% around here that Mike McCarthy was going to get an extension because they were going to win.
01:52 And that Dak Prescott is going to get an extension because they were going to win.
01:57 I'll just say right now, obviously with Mike McCarthy, it's not 100% anymore.
02:02 And I don't think the Dak Prescott highest paid quarterback and cosplay player in NFL history, I don't think that's quite 100% right now either.
