Nate Oats apologizes to Dennis Gates for first half altercation
Transcript
00:00 Before I start talking about the game, I just want to address the situation at the under-8 media timeout, the scuffle that happened next to our bench.
00:10 I've known Coach Gates for a long time. I was a high school coach. He was one of the best recruiters in the country.
00:17 I have all the respect in the world for the job he's done as an assistant and head coach.
00:23 Before he got to Missouri as head coach here, he had one of the best first years in the SEC since I've been here in a long time.
00:32 So, no disrespect to him or his program, I apologize to both Coach Gates and Aiden Shaw.
00:40 Aiden seems like a great kid. It was an unfortunate situation, but I apologize to both of them.
00:46 I wanted to address that before we got going.
00:49 The second thing I want to say is, I thought for the weather out there tonight, I thought our home crowd was unbelievable.
00:56 So, I want to thank the students publicly. I think we had almost 3,000 students in there.
01:02 We needed them. They got loud and we needed it.
01:05 For a time when everybody could have an excuse to stay in with the weather, they chose to come out and support us.
01:13 It means a lot to us. It means a lot to our players. It means a lot to the program.
01:17 So, I want to make sure I thank them.
