00:00 Road crews have been busy throughout the Northeast today with the latest round of snow, and the Northeast could see even more snow as we head into the end of the week.
00:08 For those details, we send things over to Michelle McLeod. Michelle?
00:12 Kevin, at the end of the week, it's like, you know, in the Northeast, we have this, like, conveyor of storms.
00:18 And it's like one after another. Well, here comes another. Or like the kids say, another one.
00:23 I've got this low pressure system situated in the Arklatex, and it's going to bring wintry weather to the places that have already seen wintry weather.
00:31 It's going to make a mess. Now, this is going to continue to move farther north.
00:34 Friday, at the end of the work week here, you're going to see some snow in the Northeast.
00:39 Now, this storm is doing something interesting. This low pressure system is weakening. Why?
00:44 Well, it's giving strength to this low pressure system that's off the coast.
00:48 So the I-95 corridor is going to be dealing with some beefy snow, which is going to make travel a bit difficult.
00:54 We'll get more into that in just a moment.
00:56 But when it comes to snow totals, look, the Spine of the Appalachians, they're going to see the most this time.
01:03 We're used to seeing east of the Great Lakes, like a buffalo or a pulaska, a water towd, getting in on the most snow.
01:09 Not the case this time.
01:10 You're going to see 6 to 12 inches in the Spine of the Appalachians, with an AccuWeather Local Storm Max of 15 inches.
01:16 Here's the deal. You're looking at New York City, Baltimore, D.C., Philly, and you're only seeing 1 to 3 inches.
01:24 If you are a Great Lakes snow bout person, you're looking at that and you're like, "That's not a big deal."
01:32 Keep in mind, it's been almost two years since they've seen measurable snow in these areas.
01:37 You know that's going to make the commute difficult, especially in the New York metro area.
01:42 Another place that's going to see a difficult commute, Arkansas, through Memphis into Tennessee, Nashville.
01:49 You're not seeing it there, but it will happen at night. It's going to go to and through Nashville at night.
01:54 Look at all these interstates that are involved in this.
01:56 Travel is going to be difficult. The roads are going to be icy, as well as the sidewalks.
02:01 I always do this, but you've got to do the penwind shuffle, so that when you're going through the ice, you don't fall.
02:06 These are for the pedestrians.
02:08 Now, here's what's going on with the ice in Nashville.
02:11 You're getting a trace to about five hundredths of an inch, very quickly coming through.
02:15 About four hours on Thursday.
02:17 Then on top of that, you're going to see some snow, according to an inch.
02:22 It's almost a 24-hour period, but the problem is, when you get snow on top of icing, it is very difficult.
02:30 I know TDOT has some tricks up their sleeves with beet juice and potato juice,
02:35 but keeping snow away and cold air is very difficult.
02:39 Now, before we get done, Friday, I told you, we're going to see some snow along the I-95 corridor.
02:46 It's going to be a little stronger along the I-95 corridor than it will farther inland.
02:51 Kevin?
02:52 Thank you very much, Michelle. More snow on the way.
02:55 Be careful what you wish for, right?
