00:00 I'm Anthony Newby, I'm the owner of the Underground Fitness Club which is part
00:04 of Trailblazer Fitness CIC. Tonight you've come down to the Monday night
00:08 class which is the Ring of Death boxing workout, one of our biggest classes of
00:11 the week as you just saw it was buzzing in here, packed in here, the music's
00:15 pumping, the atmosphere is amazing, the lights are on. I used to DJ in the 90s so
00:19 I create mixes, I DJ mixes that we're playing here. I know you're not allowed to play the
00:23 music in the video but yeah the music is pumping in here, the atmosphere is
00:27 amazing, it's a full body boxing workout on a Monday night. We've got such a
00:31 diverse group of people, we've got younger fitter girls to older fitter
00:35 ladies, men, women, families, parents and children come along so I understand it
00:41 you can be anxious about going somewhere new but you will be, people have made to
00:45 feel more than welcome here. People love it and there's nothing like this around
00:50 what we've tried to combine, what people love about music, it makes you want to
00:55 move about a night out and the endorphins from exercise, we bring it
00:59 together, it's a really relaxed environment. I think this, our society is
01:04 sort of pushing us towards looking good you know and having to fit certain you
01:09 know types and it's not about how you look, that's a benefit but ultimately it
01:14 really is how you feel so that's what we try and promote you know fitness is for
01:18 everybody and it is for life, it's not to be able to fit in a particular number
01:23 dress size, it's to be able to run around and play with your kids and you know get
01:27 up the stairs and you just move around without the aches and pains and groans.
01:32 Ten years ago, well it's 11 years ago now, I lost two very close people to me and I was
01:36 suffering very badly with depression. A friend showed me some stairs in Armley
01:39 Park, I ran up and down a few times and straight away I felt a buzz in my head
01:43 and I thought whoa this feels good so I started to run up and down them on my
01:46 own, people saw what I was doing, the council saw what I was doing, people started to join
01:50 me and the council said well why don't you turn this into an official session
01:53 so I did that, we ran that for a few years then they said well why don't you start some
01:57 fitness boot camps in parks, so we started to do exercise and fitness in
02:01 parks and then from there we want to build a club so like I used to DJ in the
02:05 90s, I know the buzz that I used to get on a night out, it's the same buzz that I get
02:10 now when I have a good workout so I want to mix the music, the lights and the
02:14 feeling of a good workout together and we created the Underground Fitness Club.
02:17 People tend to put so much pressure on having to do so much at once and then
02:22 when that fails after the first week they blame themselves, they think oh I
02:26 can't do it and you know baby steps, doesn't matter if you didn't do what you
02:30 said you were gonna do last week, you've got another week, every day is a chance
02:34 to start again so try not to put too much pressure on yourself to do so much
02:38 but I think the number one rule is do what you enjoy, find something that you
02:42 enjoy and it won't feel so much like effort.
02:45 You think as well January the 1st right things are going to change so everybody waits for that
02:50 date January the 1st, nothing changes, nothing changes, you've got to change
02:54 your mindset but it's a good, it's always a good thing, it's a new year, it's a
02:58 new start, it's a new me and it might take a couple of weeks for you to actually get
