00:00 "But you can spend that extra money on, I don't know, an adorable baby bear?"
00:03 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at the most hilarious, clever,
00:10 entertaining, and fun infomercials of the previous 10 years, from 2014 to today.
00:16 We're being a little loose with our definition of infomercial here,
00:20 so length is not a factor, meaning that short sales pitches have been included.
00:25 "Introducing the Squatty Party."
00:29 "Squatty Party."
00:30 Number 10. Housed Real Estate Group. Buying a house in today's climate is a massive headache.
00:36 However, the Housed Real Estate Group decided to make the process a little bit more fun.
00:41 "The two-bed, two-bath condo that will take you from rejected to well-respected."
00:47 Rather than go with a typical dramatic film-esque video to highlight a property on the market,
00:52 they went with parodying the stereotypical infomercial style with black and white clips
00:57 and a green screen. With a loud caricature salesperson complete with a cowboy hat and an
01:02 accent, House.com showcased a unit in Chandler, Arizona. "So after years of prospecting and real
01:08 estate research, I'm passing this house on to you!" They even threw in some fake customer
01:13 testimonials to amp up the fun about how their lives were turned around by buying a unit.
01:18 Seemingly, it worked. A few weeks after the infomercial aired, the property was sold.
01:24 "So what are you waiting for? Come on down to Unit 2078 in Serenity Shores.
01:28 Just tell 'em Mike Dellina sent you."
01:30 Number 9. Angry Mama
01:32 Do any appliances get as dirty in real life as they do in infomercials? Well,
01:37 if somehow you're a regular food spiller in a microwave, then Angry Mama is for you.
01:42 "Don't get angry. Get Angry Mama from JML."
01:46 Promoted by UK company JML, this little device's angry expression is adorable.
01:52 Fill it with white vinegar, water, and sometimes a splash of lemon juice.
01:56 Then, pop it into the microwave. And watch as the steam escapes from her noggin and coats
02:01 the appliance. "Then she gets steaming mad."
02:04 She'll even judge your wiping up ability. Humorous designs and successful cleaning is
02:09 always a great selling point for infomercials. If you're not too keen on the redhead,
02:14 no worries. There are different nifty designs available.
02:17 "Relax and leave the hard work to Angry Mama from JML."
02:22 Number 8. Clorox Scrubtastic
02:25 Kicking things off for this infomercial, we see an inexplicably dirty bathroom that has mud,
02:30 we hope, smeared all over the place. The woman is shattered from using her boring and useless
02:36 cleaning products. But the Clorox Scrubtastic will save the day, turning the screen colorful
02:42 in the process. "You'll love how your tile shines after the first time you use Scrubtastic."
02:48 And this thing looks amazing. Using CGI to demonstrate how it works definitely adds to
02:54 its appeal. "Scrubtastic makes your tough cleaning job simple."
02:58 Then showcasing the Scrubtastic defeating horrible messes with ease adds even more of a wow factor.
03:04 This infomercial hits all the selling points in a short amount of time,
03:08 really tempting us to reach for our credit cards. "You get all this,
03:11 an incredible value for one incredible price." Number 7. GE Lighting
03:17 Celebrity endorsements of products are a key tool in the utility belt of marketing.
03:22 But not many use the famous face as well as GE Lighting with actor Jeff Goldblum in 2014.
03:28 "The answer may surprise you, really great lighting."
03:32 Playing the role of Terry Quatro, a seemingly 1970s playboy celebrity who hasn't changed his
03:38 look, Goldblum's charisma adds to the fun provided by the witty script.
03:43 "For an embarrassingly small amount of money, you can kiss your horribly lit,
03:47 non-successful life goodbye." But there's another star of the show,
03:52 Quatro's adorable goatee-wearing assistant. The infomercial is funny, ties their lighting to
03:57 making life more glamorous, and explains how simple it is to install their products.
04:02 All in a relatively short amount of time. Delightful. "Get multiple bulbs,
04:07 have fun looking as good as me." Number 6. Chatbooks
04:11 The number one rule of selling products is to know your demographic. And the
04:16 photo book-creating chatbooks knocked that out of the park with their infomercials.
04:20 They've made a series of them, all tied around the same goal. Yet one in 2019 stole the show.
04:30 It showcased a mom of three kids talking about how manic her life is with them.
04:35 And due to her offspring, she doesn't have the time to make photo albums.
04:39 "Here's the problem. What the fork? Making photo books sucks."
04:43 Cue the chatbooks ad, making her life slightly easier amongst the chaos.
04:48 Utilizing funny scenarios and lines, such as the admittance that her children refuse to follow her
04:54 on Instagram, the infomercial sticks in your mind and makes you want to see all their videos
04:59 like an advertisement sitcom. "Oh hi there. This is an actual bubble bath,
05:03 since chatbooks gave me the time for them." Number 5. Palace Skateboards and Reebok
05:08 Being aware of the stereotypes of infomercials, then employing them while adding a fun twist,
05:14 is a great way to grab attention. But throw in a well-utilized celebrity endorsement,
05:18 and you've got a recipe for success. "Hello skateboard friend."
05:22 In 2016, Jonah Hill was used to showcase the collaboration between Palace Skateboards
05:28 and Reebok. However, they parodied low-budget commercials by badly green-screening him
05:33 and getting the actor to underperform in a hilariously awkward way.
05:38 "Wow." Hill's interactions with shoppers alone are worth it.
05:43 Hill seems to have enjoyed the experience, as he worked with Palace a couple more times.
05:48 "Palace and Reebok, doing it." Number 4. Nerd Skincare
05:58 Getting the founder to take part in an infomercial to showcase how a product works,
06:02 usually makes the product more appealing. Especially if the founder doesn't demand
06:06 the spotlight throughout. "Acne people, I'm talking about acne.
06:10 And what's worse than acne? Adult acne." And that's exactly what we got in Nerd
06:14 Skincare's 2016 video, when Evelyn Chen strapped on a camera, rubbed stuff on her face,
06:21 and then highlighted her product's work in removing adult acne. Genius.
06:25 On top of Chen's great work as the straight actor, Laura Clary was wonderful as the brand's
06:33 spokesperson. The scene involving the ex-boyfriend falling out the window in Surprise is magical.
06:39 Using humor with simple, well-designed sets adds to the charm of the infomercial,
06:44 and helps it make a long-lasting impression. "Boys, come and get me."
06:49 Number 3. The Animal Foundation - Las Vegas In 2015, The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas,
06:58 Nevada went in a different direction with the infomercial. As they pun-tastically call it,
07:03 the "infomercial". Kicking things off, it seems like a typical product of the genre.
07:08 Black and white footage and a big mess. Yet, the saving grace isn't a magical cleaning
07:14 contraption. Instead, it's a furry pup saving the kitchen from spilled snacks.
07:19 "Introducing Pet Dog." Throughout, they parody the infomercial with an
07:23 over-enthusiastic voiceover, but showcase dogs making human lives better in humorous ways.
07:29 Genius! "Contact the Animal Foundation at newpetnow.com and get your pet dog today."
07:35 As you may have put together, this was to promote adopting dogs from the foundation.
07:40 But cat lovers, fear not. They also released a similar video that focused on our feline friends.
07:46 "And all models come equipped with a self-cleaning feature."
07:49 Number 2. Purple - New York Beyond fairy tale character Goldilocks being
07:53 an expert breaker and enterer, and knowledgeable about porridge, she's also known as a judgy bed
08:00 connoisseur. So, in 2016, the mattress company Purple brought her in to show off their sleeping
08:06 product. "Need proof?"
08:07 Using over-the-top science involving heavy weights and raw eggs, the infomercial nails how good
08:16 their mattresses appear. Especially when they repeat the tests on other mattress types and show
08:22 them failing. "It just fails the raw egg test." Add in a humorous script, pop culture references,
08:28 the educational background of the inventor, mention of how much cheaper their product is
08:32 compared to the competition, and the ending showing the test wasn't fake, and this infomercial
08:38 is a rousing success. "See those are real eggs, not hard boiled."

08:56 Number 1. The Squatty Potty Have you ever wondered how ice cream was
09:04 made? Well, the Squatty Potty is here to quench your thirst for knowledge. It's from a unicorn
09:09 cutting rope. "Totally clean, totally cool." Within those opening few seconds of the 2015
09:15 infomercial, we're hooked on this bonkers video. Pushing bathroom boundaries by talking openly
09:21 about habits and adding in a colourful and whimsical medieval-esque setting with a dashing
09:26 spokesperson, this work by Squatty Potty is unmatched in rewriting the infomercial recipe.
09:32 "No, Squatty Potty is not a joke. And yes, it will give you the best poop of your life,
09:36 guaranteed." They showcase the benefit of their product visually with drawings,
09:41 instantly getting their message across clearly, but then back it up with scientific journals as
09:46 well as praise from various publications and users. Plus, that haiku read by the deep-voiced
09:52 mythical creature was moving. "Oh, Squatty Potty, you fill me with endless joy, yet leave me empty."
10:01 Have you ever been so tempted by an infomercial that you bought the product,
10:05 only to really regret it? Let us know your tale of woe below.
