MMDA, magdaragdag ng hanggang apat na bagong bangka sa Pasig River Ferry Service
Transcript
00:00 As part of the Pasig River Urban Development Project,
00:03 MMDA has made the Pasig River Ferry service even better.
00:08 Let's find out what's new from Rod Lagusan's report.
00:12 The current 3-minute wait of the passengers of the Pasig River Ferry service will be 20 minutes only.
00:22 If there are 15 boats traveling on the river,
00:25 MMDA will add 3 to 4 boats to speed up the interval between the ferries.
00:33 But that's just the beginning of a better service.
00:36 For now, there are 3 new stations being built,
00:39 including the one in Intramuros.
00:41 According to MMDA Chairman Romando Artes,
00:43 the increase in the ridership of the ferry service
00:46 from 58,000 in 2021 has increased to 254,000 last year.
00:53 The average daily ridership here is between 1,000 and 1,200.
00:58 Hopefully, with these new terminals or stations,
01:03 the ridership will increase.
01:05 In anticipation, we will buy new boats
01:10 so that more people can use the Pasig River.
01:15 This is in accordance with the President's order
01:20 to revive the Pasig River.
01:25 Riders are free here Monday to Saturday from 6 am to 6 pm.
01:30 According to MMDA, the ride will remain free as long as possible.
01:34 The budget for this service is more than P70 million,
01:37 including the maintenance of the ferries and stations.
01:40 This is an alternative public transportation
01:43 where the ride takes place for 1.5 hours,
01:45 from the first to the last station.
01:47 This is carried from Pasig City to Escolta in Manila,
01:50 including the maintenance of each station.
01:53 If you take the road, it will take about 3 hours.
01:58 Especially if you come from Marikina to Intramuros or Escolta.
02:03 The feedback we get from the riders here is that
02:07 the ride is no longer smelly.
02:10 Also, with the EO35,
02:15 not only the aesthetic, but also the water quality.
02:20 Along with MMDA's inspection of the Pasig River
02:23 is DALG Secretary Benoro Abalos.
02:26 In the coming days, the water quality should be addressed.
02:31 The garbage that is thrown here should be addressed.
02:35 The river is important.
02:37 We will clean it, it will smell good, it is beautiful,
02:40 and we will make it beautiful.
02:42 That is why we are here.
02:44 Abalos added that with MMDA, DNR, and DPWH,
02:48 there are programs to make the river clean,
02:51 like putting trash traps.
02:53 The CALEUM also gave that to make the programs work,
02:57 everyone needs to help.
02:58 Meanwhile, regarding the ferry service,
03:00 passengers can bring their bikes,
03:02 especially new boats, to the places they need to go.
03:05 There is also a place for the passengers who were mistaken
03:08 from Divisoria or Binondo area.
03:10 The Department of Transportation is also studying
03:12 the possibility of ferry service in Laguna de Bay
03:15 and Manila Bay that are both connected by Pasig River.
03:18 Rod Laguzan, for the people.
