Yet another storm will track across the West Coast over the weekend, delivering rain, ice and snow to the region before a break in the stormy pattern.
Transcript
00:00 It's already been a stormy series
00:01 into the northwest and here we go again.
00:04 A storm moving onshore,
00:05 bringing more snow to the Cascade
00:06 Mountains and even some icing back
00:08 along I-5 you can see the gist of it
00:10 here today and tomorrow with that snow,
00:12 not just even through the Cascades,
00:14 but as you get into the interior northwest,
00:16 more of the same through the northern Rockies,
00:18 even southern Idaho and into the Wasatch as well.
00:21 Now let's start focusing here on the snow.
00:23 First you can see it really comes
00:25 through later tonight and the heaviest
00:27 of it right along the Cascade
00:29 Mountains of Oregon.
00:30 But I do want to mention in southern
00:32 Oregon as you're heading along I-5
00:33 or even central Oregon as well from
00:35 Portland down to Corvallis and Eugene.
00:37 We do have an icing threat.
00:38 That means power outages are possible.
00:40 Travel is going to be really difficult.
00:42 I would not get on the roads,
00:44 even your major interstates.
00:45 All it takes folks is just a tiny bit
00:47 of ice to cause huge problems on the road.
00:49 You don't need half an inch.
00:51 You don't need a quarter of an inch,
00:53 even a 10th of an inch can cause big problems,
00:55 so just make sure you're staying
00:57 tuned to the forecast and of course,
00:58 now in terms of what comes next,
01:00 it's all about the cold air,
01:02 so it's a double whammy here.
01:03 Storm comes first,
01:04 cold comes second,
01:05 and this is cold like we haven't
01:07 seen so far this season.
01:08 Take a look at what happens to
01:10 your temperatures here Saturday,
01:11 Sunday, Monday in Helena, Montana.
01:12 You don't even get to zero.
01:14 You're below zero for that three day stretch.
01:16 Boise looking like a heat wave with
01:18 a grand total of 21 degrees as your
01:20 high temperature on Sunday afternoon.
01:21 You're in the teens the other two days.
01:23 A little luckier as you get back down
01:25 toward let's say Medford, Oregon.
01:27 You're in the 40s and 50s.
01:28 You're reaching that area,
01:29 but even still,
01:30 we're going to be bitter cold in the meantime,
01:31 so stay warm and stay safe.
