Joe Buck dissects all the latest transfer news surrounding Newcastle United. Eddie Howe's side have been linked with a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke this month as they look for ways to strengthen their attacking options.

However, the club still need to offload some players and Isaac Hayden, who is set to be recalled from his loan in Belgium, could be set for a move to the Championship.

00:00 Hello, this is Joe Buck here with all the latest Newcastle United transfer news for
00:05 the Shields Gazette. Now it's been a bit quiet in Newcastle so far, we're about 11 days into
00:09 the January transfer window and so far no incomings or outgoings. It is expected that
00:15 Newcastle will be busier as the window progresses, whether that incoming, whether he's signed
00:20 any players, it's still yet to be known. We know the financial fair play restrictions
00:24 there that they've got to deal with. We've seen links with Calvin Phillips in recent
00:28 times, David here, but they've cooled recently and it's unlikely that Newcastle will do anything,
00:33 probably until the last few days of the window I think. In terms of other incomings, Dominic
00:38 Solange has been linked with a move to Newcastle now. That's one where Newcastle do want to
00:43 strengthen their attacking areas, but whether Solange, as someone who is 26, will probably
00:49 cost near £50 million or certainly at least double what Bournemouth paid for him five
00:55 years ago from Liverpool, that was £19 million. So we're expecting at least £40-50 million.
00:59 Whether he's someone they can get signed in this window is another issue. But I certainly
01:05 want to watch, but I would be surprised if Newcastle would shell out that sums of money
01:10 on a player like Solange this window, especially. In some areas it could be different once they
01:14 know the financial situation and once that becomes clear what they can and can't spend.
01:18 But right now I think that move for Solange might be a little bit unlikely. But stranger
01:23 things have happened. We have seen Newcastle be busy in the January window, but the first
01:26 thing they will want to do is they will want to get rid of some players off their books.
01:30 They know their wages to turnover ratio is really high and they need to get some of them
01:34 players off their books now. People like Jeff Hendrick, he's out with Conrad at the end
01:38 of the season. He's likely to go then, but probably won't move on a permanent deal. He's
01:42 currently on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, likely to stay there until the end of the
01:46 campaign despite not playing recently. But we've got a couple of other players out with
01:50 Conrad at the end of the season. But there's still a few there who are currently on loan.
01:54 Ryan Fraser, for example, he's currently on loan. He's still got another year left to
01:57 go. So Southampton are interested in signing him on a permanent deal. But again, January
02:01 window is always busy and always difficult to do work in. Whether he'll sign for Southampton
02:07 permanently this month again is unlikely. I think the finances of that deal will be
02:12 dependent on Southampton getting promoted to the Premier League. And we've recently
02:15 seen that Isaac Hayden has been linked with a move to the Championship. Again, that will
02:18 be a loan deal. He's currently out with Standard Liège and Belgium, but that deal is expected
02:22 to be cut short. We're just waiting on confirmation for that to happen. And then if that does
02:26 happen, if he does return to England, then he will likely be sent out again on loan.
02:30 There's four Championship clubs reportedly interested in him. Birmingham City, Plymouth
02:34 Argyle, Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday have all shown interest in him. So again,
02:38 he'll be someone that the club will, you know, there's no future in the first team, so he'll
02:42 likely be allowed to leave. But again, it's a loan deal. Until they get rid of these players
02:46 on permanent transfers, they're really hamstering what they can do in the transfer market. And
02:51 that is financial fair play and their wages to turnover ratio. And that's a big issue
02:56 for Newcastle at the minute. So it'll be interesting in a few weeks to see what movements happen.
03:01 And as always, the January window has been busy across, sorry, it's been quiet across
03:04 the board. But as we've all seen, if one move triggers another, then the domino effect starts
03:08 to fall. But right now for Newcastle, I think we'll probably see more outgoings and incomings
03:12 in the next couple of days and the next week. And then maybe that will ramp up towards the
03:16 end of the window of a few more incomings and a few more, you know, solid deals getting
03:20 done as the club maybe see their injury crisis either. Hopefully, you know, they're getting
03:26 past that and again, some of the best players back, Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes, are expected
03:30 back by the end of the month. But of course, if there's any setbacks with them, the club
03:33 might be forced to act in the market and that might come at the end of the window. Now,
03:37 the club got Man City this weekend. That's a massive game before they've got Aston Villa
03:42 at the end of the month and now that FA Cup game against Fulham between then. So they've
03:46 got a few big games on the pitch and it's going to be a big month off the pitch as well.
03:49 And of course, the best way you can stay up to date with all the latest Newcastle United
03:52 transfer news and gossip is with the Shields Gazette.
