00:00 Lewis Hall has become Newcastle United's fifth signing of the summer after joining
00:06 on loan from Chelsea. Now that move will likely be made into a permanent one at the end of
00:10 the season. Newcastle have got an obligation to buy should certain performance-related
00:14 criteria be met and everyone assumes that will be met this season. The fee we expect
00:20 will be around £30 million for the 18-year-old who has made 12 senior appearances for Chelsea.
00:27 He made his Premier League debut at St James' Park back in November in that Newcastle win
00:32 against Chelsea and he started against Newcastle at the end of the season. He has got experience
00:38 of Premier League football but as I said, 12 senior appearances is a lot. So there's
00:44 a lot of expectation on him to become Newcastle's next starting left back. Obviously we've seen
00:48 Dan Byrne play there in recent seasons, Matt Tarver still at the club. So there's plenty
00:52 of competition for spots and Lewis Hall won't be thrusting the first few in straight away
00:57 but it's definitely a sign for the future and certainly one that's got Newcastle United
01:00 fans very excited. It's an 18-year-old with England ambitions and with Tino Levermendo
01:07 on the other side, Harrison Ashby as well. The future is bright in Newcastle and I think
01:11 Hall will join the team obviously on the up and be someone that Eddie Howe can really
01:16 feel he can mold and shape into the type of player, the type of full-back he wants. As
01:21 I said, pressure won't be too high on him starting, playing Liverpool on the weekend,
01:25 you imagine Hall might be on the bench but you don't imagine he'll start that game, especially
01:29 with the settled back fives that they've got there at the club. It'll be hard to dislodge
01:33 Dan Byrne but with all the games coming up, with all the Champions League and Cup games,
01:36 there's going to be plenty of opportunity for Hall to get games under his belt and really
01:43 show why Newcastle have put a lot of faith in him, not just this season but I'd say with
01:47 that £30m obligation, that's a lot of money for an 18-year-old. But all the signs are
01:52 positive that he can have a great future in the game. Frank Lampard is very positive about
01:57 Hall during his brief time as interim manager. Thomas Tuchel gave him a chance in the first
02:04 team, Trane Greenpotter then gave him a chance in the first team as mentioned. So there's
02:08 lots of hopes high for Hall to become Newcastle's starting left-back within the next few seasons
02:15 and it really stamps their transfer policy this year as I've mentioned with Levermando,
02:20 Sandro Tonale and Jakub Aminta who will join next time after his loan final. These are
02:25 all players under 23 who have all got bright futures in the game and as much as financial
02:29 fair play constraints have impacted their business this summer, we've seen that for
02:34 example this move for Hall is now a loan move rather than a permanent one because of that.
02:40 Newcastle have still done some very good business this summer and probably that's it in terms
02:44 of incomings unless there's a serious injury between now and the window shutting on September
02:49 1st but overall it's been a very positive window and Lewis Hall is the icing on the
02:54 cake of what could be a very pivotal summer transfer window for Newcastle United but of
02:59 course the best way to stay up to date with all the latest transfer news and everything
03:04 else is with the Shields Gazette.
