00:06 According to a study, it is no longer able to handle the heavy traffic that is being spread by the busy streets, such as illegal parking.

00:16 Oscar Roida was able to point out.

00:18 Illegal vehicles parked in Quezon City were targeted today by the MMDA Strike Force.

00:27 In Summer Avenue, drivers were seen parking their vehicles.

00:32 And the vehicles that were left behind and without a driver were completely towed.

00:37 Here in Borromeo Street, there is no exception to the number of people who are parked in front of the food stalls.

00:43 What they are parking is still part of the sidewalk.

00:51 There is a designated parking slot, there is a marking. However, they are crossing the sidewalk.

00:57 So that is not allowed because even if there is a parking slot, there is an allotment for the sidewalk.

01:03 According to the MMDA, aside from the increasing number of vehicles on the road,

01:07 one of the main reasons for the continuous slowdown of the traffic flow in Metro Manila is the blocking of various places.

01:15 Let's say a road that is four lanes, right? So two lanes northbound, two lanes southbound.

01:21 If we are going to make it a road, each lane on both bounds will be reduced in traffic flow.

01:28 Instead of the increasing volume of vehicles that can pass through a road, it will be reduced because of illegal parking.

01:35 According to TomTom, a Dutch navigation and digital mapping group,

01:39 it is now being released in 387 metro areas in various countries. Metro Manila is leading in the slowest travel time.

01:48 It is said that it takes 25 minutes and 30 seconds for a vehicle to cover 10 kilometers.

02:00 to intensify our cleaning operations, not only limited to the busy lanes, but also to the major thoroughfares.

02:07 The question is, where are the vehicles parked?

02:11 There are some roads that allow street parking, like in Barangay UP Village, where one-side parking is allowed.

02:20 But there are also roads that do not allow parking.

02:24 There are some, like for example, here in Mayumi and Maini, like schools, that's two-way.

02:31 Ideally, there is no parking during school days because it is clear and fast.

02:38 If it is not school days, it is open for one-side parking.

02:43 So we are flexible depending on the traffic. As long as the traffic flow will not be affected.
