This year we're set to see the completion of the West Midlands Metro's line to Dudley, and over time the project will see the tram service run services through to Digbeth, Solihull, the Airport and HS2. I'm here today to find out people's thoughts on this huge undertaking.

00:00 I've actually used the trams myself, the metro itself, for about three years when I was commuting
00:07 into Birmingham. I think it's fantastic. I think it opens up more opportunities and avenues
00:11 for people to commute to work and make themselves more available to work. And in effect it actually
00:19 expands opportunities for people who are looking to grow themselves. I think it's fantastic
00:23 for the area as well. I think it feeds into the economy and it allows people to socially
00:30 move up as well. I do support the use of the metro. I've used it sparingly, predominantly
00:38 though I tend to use bus or train to get around Birmingham. However, I think for auto and
00:44 uber to go into the airport and further, it's really useful because it gives you that extra
00:49 option because you need it. Especially with train strikes and bus strikes over the last
00:53 year, we know how difficult that's been. If you've got that extra option there to be able
00:57 to use, I think it's really useful. I think the prices are quite reasonable for what it
01:01 is as well, so it's always a good alternative to have if you need to use it. I would like
01:07 to see them expanding to other areas as well, maybe like Kingsheath, places like that, Sellio,
01:13 to further give you options for travel, for work, commuting and leisure. I think generally
01:22 it is a good idea. I'm not sure how much I'd use it because when I come into Birmingham
01:27 it tends to just be around the city centre, so I'd walk, but certainly out towards, if
01:33 you go out particularly towards the football grounds more, I think it would be useful,
01:39 yes, the Metro. So I've used it a couple of times. I think the issue for me is I'm located
01:46 in central Birmingham, so most stuff is in walking distance. That being said, having
01:50 an extra transport route out to the airport and areas like that would be fantastic. At
01:55 the moment it's just the train or the car really, you can't walk there or cycle there,
02:00 at least as far as I know. So having another transport mode would be fantastic. Oh man,
02:08 yeah, I mean the more the better really, the more trains we've got the better. Yeah, it'd
02:16 be really useful to get from Briley Hill to Birmingham, being fairly local to the area
02:21 myself. Yeah, I'm all for it. Yes I do. Anything that's useful using the cars, I think you
02:32 use the tram, trains, buses. I would recommend all of them, but they need to be improved.
02:42 It all needs to be improved. The tram I believe, there's plans for it to go through to Medhill
02:47 at one time and that'll help even more, but you know, when it all happens it does need
02:56 to be improved a great deal and it needs security on it as well I think, you know, so people
03:01 can feel safe when they're travelling.
