SEC Basketball Power Ranking Tuesday Jan 9 2024
Transcript
00:00 This is Bama Central's daily video. I'm Joe Gaither, thanks for watching today and we're going to talk about the SEC basketball power rankings.
00:07 The Southeastern Conference opened conference play on Saturday, so let's talk about where teams stand, who the best and who may be the worst teams in the conference are through non-conference play and through one weekend of conference action.
00:19 Your Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Vanderbilt Commodore's 78-75 to open conference play. Where does that put the Crimson Tide?
00:27 We'll start with the top three teams in the conference they've seen to have separated themselves. Tennessee, we're putting at number one. Tennessee beating Ole Miss, undefeated Ole Miss, 90-64.
00:37 We're putting them at number one. Auburn comes in at number two. Oh, I know that pains you Alabama fans, but any time you can go into Arkansas and win 83-51, huge win for the Auburn Tigers.
00:49 The Kentucky Wildcats might be the most talented team in the conference, but always so, so young. They beat Florida 87-85 this past weekend.
00:59 So we're putting Tennessee, Auburn, and Kentucky in the top tier of conference play. We'll put the middle tier with Alabama at number four and Florida number five. We just hit on their results over the weekend.
01:10 Number six, Ole Miss, you were undefeated, but going into Tennessee, not a bad loss. Number seven, South Carolina getting a great win over Mississippi State. We're putting the Gamecocks at number seven.
01:24 Number eight, we are taking Mississippi State. They just got Toluse Smith back, so that's great for the Bulldogs. Number nine, LSU getting a huge win over Texas A&M and preseason SEC Player of the Year Wade Taylor.
01:37 We'll put Texas A&M at number ten and then Arkansas at eleven. They're very talented, they just haven't put it all together at all. Georgia at twelve, Missouri at thirteen, and Vanderbilt at fourteen.
01:49 For Alabama Central, I'm Joe Gaither. This is our SEC Power Rankings as we've gotten through one weekend of conference play. Tonight on Tuesday, the Alabama Crimson Tide will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks, so we'll see how conference play continues right here in the SEC.
