Snowstorms over the coming days will bring a lot of fresh powder to ski resorts in the northwestern U.S., but they'll come with some extremely cold temperatures too.

00:00 It was a fun time for skiers and snowboarders on the east coast over the weekend meantime
00:04 as they hit the slopes with a fresh layer of snow and now it's the west coast turn as snow is on the
00:10 way to ski areas there this week. Christina Schallhoop shows us the conditions in tonight's ski report.
00:14 Skiers and snowboarders in the northwest you're gonna love this ski forecast but I'm gonna urge
00:22 you to be patient at the same time. We have a major storm system moving into the northwest
00:26 and while we have had some decent snowfall already with a stormier pattern back into the Cascades,
00:32 back into the Bitterroots and the Lewis Range, northern Rockies in general it's not too shabby,
00:36 we are going to see some more bulky snow. I'm talking feet in the highest elevations of the
00:41 mountains with the storm system that's moving on shore right now. But here's the thing that
00:45 system's also bringing really nasty kind of windy conditions. Oh yeah and it's freezing as we look
00:51 back toward big sky. Just again be patient with the weather you'll get to enjoy the fresh powder
00:56 just give it a couple of days until this storm has kind of moved out of the area. But you can
01:01 see the picture here big sky with some flakes on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, especially Tuesday
01:05 the heaviest of snow falling. But look at the temperatures we open the door for arctic air
01:09 with this storm and you're going to be down to single digits by the time we get to Thursday.
01:13 White Pass in Washington one of my favorite mountains actually where I learned how to ski
01:17 was pretty cool experience looking out over the Cascades from the top of White Pass here but
01:22 you know literally a cool experience as temperatures fall to the low 20s as we get
01:26 through the next three days. Again some pretty hefty snow at times and visibility is actually
01:29 going to be tough at times as well and even traveling along the passes if you're driving
01:34 is going to be a tad concerning. So again just be patient with the weather and know that there's
01:39 fresh powder ahead. Mount Hood Meadows is more of the same story here where you end up with some
01:43 pretty bulky snowfall Tuesday and Thursday and even Wednesday we leave a couple flakes on the
01:47 table. Temperatures falling from the 30s to the upper 20s and I'll tell you it's a similar story
01:51 in Sun Valley Idaho. This one's on the bucket list for sure. Temperatures in the 20s the next
01:55 three days we end up with just more snow back into Sun Valley. Enjoy!
