00:00 Here's the report of the game there.
00:03 Tip my hat to Tampa Bay, congratulations to them.
00:06 We shot ourselves in the foot and we scored a couple times and
00:12 self inflicted took those points off the board.
00:17 So that's obviously very disappointing.
00:20 Like how our guys bounced back from the previous week, how what we were trying to
00:24 do and with regards to running the football, I thought our defense played really well.
00:29 Limited those guys to field goals and
00:32 given us an opportunity about our special teams handled field position.
00:36 It was definitely a windy day out there, had to do some navigation through that.
00:40 The season's over now, that's it.
00:44 And with that, I'll answer any of the questions.
00:47 >> Chris, how deflating was it to have those?
00:48 >> I'm sorry, one at a time, who's going?
00:50 >> What was your message to the players afterwards, Chris?
00:53 >> I just said that this room will change.
00:56 This room will now change.
00:58 And I think that the motto of character and
01:01 compromise will still continue for those kids, myself included.
01:07 And I said that you'll probably pass that down to your kids as you become a parent.
01:12 You can never lose sight of those lessons, learn from and move on.
01:16 >> Chris, how deflating were those plays that got taken off the board?
01:19 >> How deflating were they?
01:20 Well, obviously we didn't score any points off of it, so extremely deflating.
01:25 >> Chris, you were- >> [INAUDIBLE]
01:27 Callback touchdown and
01:28 rename with the illegal formation, we couldn't.
01:31 >> Apparently, I don't think they said this.
01:33 Obviously 79 was uncovered there, so
01:35 we didn't have somebody on the line of scrimmage on their side.
01:37 >> Chris, you were part of the 016 round season.
01:43 What did you learn from that about maybe kind of, I know you left Cleveland after
01:47 that, but about resiliency from the coaching standpoint,
01:52 from a player standpoint, the guys that have come out of that.
01:54 >> I think everything that I've said since I've taken over, it's about the tape.
01:58 What does your tape say?
02:00 I mean, yes, 016 is horrible.
02:03 This isn't much better.
02:04 And how you go from here is obviously,
02:10 it's gonna talk a lot about how you are as a person.
02:12 I learned a lot that year, and we just kinda continue to try to keep getting better.
02:22 >> What do you think outside of those turnovers kind of stunted the offense,
02:26 maybe in the second half, just kinda- >> Well, obviously,
02:30 I mean, those turnovers were killer.
02:32 And I'll say, you know, the film gets a turnover.
02:35 And I know, cuz was that, correct me if I'm wrong,
02:39 was that after the touchdowns that when we got the, I don't wanna call sack fumble,
02:43 the guy came around the edge.
02:44 So yeah, you're talking about the plays that we did to ourselves that we
02:50 are in control of, that's disappointing.
02:53 I guess I'm being really nice about that.
02:56 But we said that we were gonna come in here and run the football.
03:03 And even if they stuffed us, we were still gonna try to run the football, and
03:07 I thought we stuck to that plan pretty good.
03:09 >> Anything else for coach?
03:12 >> Those two plays that got called back,
03:14 you say those were kind of going along with how your season went in general.
03:20 I don't think of it like that.
03:21 I just said, I mean, I think, I understand the question and say, okay,
03:26 those are really bad plays and let's tie it in with the season cuz it's a bad season.
03:30 Those are plays that can't happen, and that's disappointing.
03:34 >> What's next for you, Chris, and do you wanna get back?
03:39 >> What's next for me is I'm gonna watch the film.
03:43 I'm gonna still stick to my process on that.
03:45 We got another team meeting tomorrow with the guys, and
03:49 I'm still gonna cherish my time with those players.
03:52 As I've always said, it is about relationships.
03:55 And that's just not coach speak.
03:56 I really care about all those guys and the coaches that we have.
04:00 And so when it's final, that's the one thing about the NFL that I learned when I
04:05 first got in, when the season ends, it just stops.
04:09 You're so used to a process and a routine, then all of a sudden it shuts down.
04:13 What's next for me, we'll see.
04:16 >> You are part of now two coaching changes here.
04:19 How difficult has this just been for you and the staff?
04:26 >> I think those things, I think if you follow this context,
04:31 I have a job to do in my special teams area.
04:33 And to be a pro and to coach the guys as best I can,
04:38 regardless who the head coach is at that time.
04:42 Whoever the head coach is, I'm always gonna be a guy that's gonna work for
04:48 that guy and do whatever we can to help him win.
04:50 And that's the kind of, I'm a big chain command guy.
04:53 >> Chris, in terms of effort and what you see on the table the last couple of months,
04:59 how valuable do you think it is when you look at evaluation over the next month?
05:04 >> I think that's gonna be big.
05:06 And I told the guys that last night, told them that this morning again.
05:11 Especially these last games, how do you play when adversity is at its highest?
05:16 And I'll be honest with you, I thought that that tape out there,
05:19 we were still in it, we were playing.
05:22 And got a lot of respect for those guys in that room, how they battled.
05:26 So I tip my hat to those guys, and I'm very appreciative of the effort they gave me.
05:32 >> And on that note, is Eric Brown the type of guy you can build around,
05:35 considering the type of day you have here?
05:36 >> There's plenty of guys that you can build around here,
05:38 there's no doubt about that.
05:40 >> Chris, you talked this week about Bryce's toughness,
05:42 obviously a tough season for him too.
05:44 What do you hope he takes from all of this?
05:46 >> I think that when he's in year 12, winning a lot of games and
05:49 slicing people up a little bit, dicing them around, throwing them around.
05:53 I said, you'll remember this first year, and you'll probably look back and
05:56 say, you know what?
05:58 It stunk at the time, but this really helped me get to where I'm at.
06:01 He has a really bright future.
06:02 >> Thank you, coach.
06:04 >> Thanks, everybody, appreciate you.
